willaston supporters prob thought the same thing about another mclean.. My point being is that if a player wants out how is it the clubs fault? When judd left i was shattered but i didnt blame west coast..

Big deal. McLean is a dead set plodder. You've got Beamer now so you don't need McLean. Pick 11 will go OK.

Agreed REB, McLean is nothing special. Let him go, get a good draft pick and move on.

A win-win. Carlton get the type of midfielder they don't have; Melbourne lose a slow player who seems to attract trouble.

This is a massive get for Carlton. Hes a gun in and under player which will free up Judd to be much more damaging. Carlton are getting a premiership contending side handed to them on a platter.

Interesting to see. I would have thought Cartlon should have been chasing a second key tall up forward pretty hard.
Still this is a good acquistion for them. They have a good squad of runners but lack that inside player. Young Joseph looked to me to be that man and now with McLean there they should get a bit more of that inside ball. With Kruzer and Hampson developing well they will be very good through the middle. But still that second forward is what they are lacking.
I just wonder in Cloke and Wiggins good enough to support the blues to get to that next step. Because if they draft a second forward option it will be years before he is ready to make a difference.

Carlton have Robert Warnock that will be there number one ruckman next season. Are you people serious that Brock Mclean isn't a gun. The bloke is 23 and he has already had 3-4 really good years of footy in a struggling side. He is only going to get better!!!!

Yeah crissy but his body is an old 23- reckon he could be washed up by 27.

His ability is emphasised by the lack of ability around him. Skills average I reckon.

Can get the hard ball, I'll pay you that.

i'm not sure if mclean is a gun or not but IMO he is a hell of a trade for the 11th pick i believe the clear winner in that trade will be carlton by a long way he will take a huge load off there midfield and now you must have carltons midfield as one of the best in the afl if it wasnt already
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Are Carlton being given 6 above average defenders as well? I would think the last thing Carlton need was more midfielders.

interesting that Melbourne are happy to grab pick 11 and not take McLean to trade week to see if they could get better, smells fishy to me....

Does it matter if they do. McClean has specified he wants in at Carlton similar to what Juddy did and what Burgoyne is. Melbourne could play silly buggers and take him to trade, but who knows he may just walk and get picked up by say Ninthmond for nothing ala Stevens.....

Agreed, foolish by Melbourne. One of if not the best midfielder at Carlton and will only get better as he is still young. Melbourne are surely meant to be starting their run up the ladder sometime soon, well obviously not with trades like this.
