Getting a Toyota Aurion car for work in the next few weeks.

Just wanting to know what they are like as i don't have much experience with Toyotas.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have had many Aurions as hire cars in the past few years and highly recommend them. Comfortable, drive well and look pretty good now-a-days. You should enjoy the ride I think and be pleasantly surprised...

Just wish they did a bet better on the dashboard/radio area...

Toyotas are fantastically built cars and recommend any of them. Unfortunately my Kluger got written off when an old bloke went straight through a red light and executed the perfect t-bone at 50-60 kph but the family come though unscathed.

Have driven one a few times mate, and they seem a great car. Only thing against them IMO is the front wheel drive, but it depends on what you are used to. If you are used to driving Falcons/Commodores, then you will notice a difference. Most Aussies are brought up on 6 cylinder rear-wheel drives, and the different handling can deter people.

Toyota make great cars - we only ever get Hiaces for work vans, and they are bullet proof.

Agreed, my sister's Corolla was passed on to my step-daughter and has just kept on keeping on.
I remember an RACV guy saying Toyotas don't generate them many calls.

As for the different feel - I've driven rear wheel drives, front wheel drives, all wheel drives, and rear engine cars - you adjust to them in a while, and learn to use their advantages and allow for their disadvantages.

One other negative with Toyota in general is the options they offer with their cars as standard. Base model Toyotas have very few 'bells and whistles' as such, and it is usually quite expensive to add extra. We looked at a brand new Corolla a few years back as a second car, and the base model had no cruise control, or any of the other electronics that are standard on most models. Im pretty sure it had no ABS either.

A bit like looking for the slot for the ignition key in a SAAB - usually near the gear lever and not on the dash at all.
[I don't know if current models are the same - the last one I drove was a loan car in the mid 90s.]

You've reminded me of 2 other 'traps for young players'.
Trying to find reverse on the old volkswagons and looking for the petrol cap

Thanks guys i got the keys to it today. Not too bad at all. Impressed by the amount of room they have. I have generally driven Commodores in the past but my last work car was a magna so the front wheel drive isn't great but i am used to it.

The foot "hand Brake" will take some getting used to though. .

My old 1996 Musso got "t-boned" once - fortunately fairly forward and all I needed was a new alloy wheel, and a bit of a straighten and repaint on the fender.
It made a mess of the front of the offending Corolla though..
More recently, in 2007, the Musso t-boned a small car that did a right turn into my path against a red turning light. I only needed a new aluminium 'Roo bar.
I guess I was lucky about where the point of impact was on both occasions.

I didn't buy it, but it does seem a good choice it drives nicely. Would be even better if it was a rear wheel drive.

have never driven a toyota ever !! have driven a magna and that was shit with front wheel drive tended to fish tail a bit when i needed to accelerate hard so im certain toyota would be the same so i wont buy one

I've been driving Mitsi's (2 x Lancer, 1 x Verade, 1 x 380) for the last 10 years and have loved them all ... Ive never found the front wheel drive to be a problem, but I'll admit Im not the biggest car enthusiast getting around.
