The police (politely and gently) without touching me walked me to their office inside the ground, i was taken into a room to which a policeman higher up (whether it was a constable or sergant im not sure), asked why i had been brought here, i was extremely polite the whole time and showed no anger, and i replied "i may have stepped a tad outside the box", he replied along the lines of "don't lie to me mate, everyone who comes in here thinks they did nothing wrong, your only going to make it worse" i replied with "no offense but if you check the footage i think you will find i don't belong here.", at that time the two officers who escorted me to the room were reviewing the footage, they came back in the room and said "we agree he hardly deserves to be here but you may want to check the footage yourself," the higher up officer then came back 5 minutes later and agreed, he then continued to apoligise and said they will speak to Weslo in question and they felt we were all embarrased and it had been a waste of their time.

So i left the room without any ban or any paperwork, and must say all three policeman involved were very professional and did their job extremely well. I still can't belive i maintained my cool throughout the situation but i think that was the key to the resolving this issue quick and easily.WELL DONE WESLO WALLY

Spot on whufc, it's not easy but and I have spat the dummy a few times and it doesn't get you anywhere.
When you say they looked at footage, do they have cctv all over the place in AAMI?

I hope so. Could you imagine a Weslo Wally giving an accurate verbal description of an incident?

I didn't get to see the footage myself, and i didn't know they had any but by asking them to check footage i thought they may have believed me more. Then he said he would take a look came, he came back and agreed i hadn't done anything wrong, so yes they must have cctv arounf place, but not sure where.

Surely they wouldn't go through all that palaver just because you stepped out side the yellow box?

Did they think something else had occurred?

I to copped the wrath of the WWs at the same game. Me and some mates watched the game near an outdoor corporate box which had some other friends in it. Our mates in the corp box would order us drinks and we would pour them into our plastic cups and consume them in seats to the front of the corp box. The waitresses had no problem with this nor did the AAMI staff, then half way through the last qtr this WW comes along with his chest all puffed up and starts threatening us with removal if we tried to get another drink from our mates in the corp box.

Funnily enough he explained that Welso would get fined $5000 (who fines them?) if spectators were caught performing this 'heinous' act. In hindsight maybe me and my mates should've continued with our heinous ways.

It's fortunate for you that there's been so many grand finals with Centrals playing. They wouldn't have installed cameras otherwise.

I don't have a clue how cctv works but i imagine if they had a rough time (which they did) of when the "incident" occured it would just be a matter of finding the appropriate angle and rewinding back to when it occurred,

Im not sure what they thought occured because the weslo bloke grabbed me, pointed me out and pushed me straight at the police and then the 2 police officers and myself walked off, the Weslo bloke wasn't seen again, and when the officer asked what i had done wrong all i could think of was that i was outside the yellow box,

it was a very strange situation and im very glad i won't have to miss a gf because of it.

It's not just Weslo who are mob of tossers.

A SANFL bloke told someone from the Snouts to get off the Oval (at 0900 BEFORE any player/umpire was on the ground ), and all they were doing was hanging a fence banner. This same SANFL bloke was then seen talking to a couple of blokes he knew at half time of the Glenelg / Central game, on the ground, which is OK, but the fact he chose to overlook the beers they were holding at the time drew the ire of him being a peanut. And he did it right in front of the banner !

Also heard that Sturt were given a hard time when they wanted to do the banner despite no officials / playing staff in the vicinity of where they wanted to lay out ropes etc etc...

Get a grip morons.

To paraphrase a quote I heard on radio today;
"It is the people's game, give it back to them."

I think it is apt.

The sanfl boffins, seem to want to take it away from us.
Anyone agree?

My feeling was that they seemed to have to justify their paycheck by acutally kicking people out. Much like an umpire i believe if you don't hear or see of them and there is no issues around they have done their job IMHO.

Must admit we had no problems with them despite numerous incidents of drinks in standing areas, standing outside of boxes, no lids on drinks, smoking inside the gates, swearing, etc, etc. They just ignored our infringements and nicely reminded us about sitting down with drinks.
At Norwood Oval I accidentally hit a WW in the back with a yo-yo (long hillarious story) and he was cool when I went and apologised and explained what happened to him.
Once again I saw much worse last weekend from the MSS clowns at the MCG.
Trust me, be happy with the WWs and don't tarnish them all with the same stick.

I sat in the SE pocket at the Sturt v Eagles game and had no problems but felt like an idiot that I had to buy a tray to carry 3 beers back to my seat, "because it's stadium rules". In the end these rules are for large crowds in a packed stadium to stop people spilling beer, and other rules to help traffic flow, it's just that there's no common sense used by security when there's only 10-15000 at SANFL finals. After going to the Ad United v Melb V game last week I'm pretty grateful to the work that Weslo and the cops were doing, down the sthn end they earnt their money that night. As was mentioned before, the ease of going to the local SANFL games is one of the things I love about it.
