It's time: 'Budget' Bashing...

Postby SnappyTom » Mon Sep 21, 2009 11:00 am

Okay.

Some glaring mistakes from yesterday's Budget:
. on the first bloody page mind you - Centrals 'WIN/LOSS/DRAW TABLE' shows WWLWDWWWWW - Norwood caused the second last W to be an L! (WWLWDWWWLW)
. page 7, caption for record comparison is 'QUALIFYING FINALS' - the table is right, just it's a SECOND SEMI FINAL FFS!
. page 24, ALL ENCOUNTERS somehow lost a Sturt win; when adding 13 and 0 they came up with a total of 12 (like 12+37=50) FFS!
. page 29, DB Cheerleaders pic should have been in color, and much, much larger (maybe a full page, or centre spread, FFS!
. QF results haven't even got the BOG name spelt correctly - they should have stuck with BUCKETS!

Not sure who ever checks this stuff. Like, I am in disbelief that the 'last ten results table' could not be automatically processed!

You're right 'Snaps', The Budget has been a pathetic joke for years.
I print off our teams from the NFC site and the opposition from here before games.
The Budget could be much smaller, much cheaper and much much better than it is now.
Wouldn't have thought you'd have too much to complain about after yesterday.
I must admit to barracking for the Bays. Just to see a change of GF landscape though.
Congrats on a fine come back Doggies. Enjoyed the efforts of all 4 teams yesterday
Great footy !

Just wondering, could the loss to Norwood a few weeks ago have stung the Dogs into
renewed vigour for the finals ?
Please say no. I'd hate to think we did anying to help !

That is without doubt a must... and easily the most important Budget issue this season!

I don't understand all this Budget Bashing - yes a few mistakes are made (and always have been) but it only costs $3- and is full of information.
You can't even get a beer or a pie for $3-. Fair go I say....

I'd be willing to bet the entropy of a pint of beer is greater than that of the Budget ;)

It's supposed to be an official record, Gravel.
Official records:
a) don't change from week to week (refer the 10 week rolling WIN/LOSS records)
b) don't quote players names incorrectly (especially those BOG for the day)
c) correctly represent factual data and figures (cheers to PhilH for doing what many others won't do, and take responsibility for an error)

We might as well do what a lot of others have said this season, go back to a $1 A5 slip sheet of 4 or 8 pages.

ST...

P.S. One thing I do find amusing - there's really no need to have two pictures, with 5 errors between them to be spotted - they just need to get us to find the weekly five errors in each edition!

Lucky you qualified that with a basically - would have been hard to get the pic into the Budget before the actual event - but I'm sure it's another way the Budget can get something else wrong in the future.

I don't think there has been one Budget without error this year. I didn't keep any I'd bought this year, but I've noted errors I reckon in at least 6 of them.

Got my hands on the GF edition and it's an absolute cracker - 80+ pages and for once it's worth every cent (500 of them actually). Well done to all concerned.

Highlight being the cheerleader's double page spread*

And the SANFL media team of the year featuring the Phil's! (great photos guys... ;) ) Some of the other selections would struggle to name 1/2 a dozen players though...

Yes that media team is very interesting

No LifeFM (the only media outlet to bother going to Perth) mentioned (but TripleMMM gets a gig)
but John, me & PhilA get a photo under the RPH name (I assume for Outside 50) instead of Smithy or Kym Morgan (who have only called about 50 games each this year)

Very Weird and that's before you get to the photo's

I understand that is what makes the world go round.

But if I was LifeFm (the station, not the commentators), Darryl Smith or Kym Morgan I would be ropeable for the insult the writer just gave.
