I went to the game. A very, very good game of football.

I thought Centrals had the better of the first half but struggled to put a score on the board. Umpiring was bad, does anyone have the free kick count to half time?

Thought we were long odds at the last change. Slade was the difference in the last quarter in my opinion. Took three telling marks, ran the ball through the lines and created space. A lucky 25 metres but no worse than a couple the Bays got earlier in the game.

Don't let this turn into Port v Glenelg from the 70s and 80s. You have been minor premiers 2 years running!!

Don't accept it so easily

Due respect to Dutchy who is responding as he should .... he's dirty about it! You'll need some more mongrel and less  for them to beat them in 2 weeks time.

Have to win next week 1st ;)

well you have to hand it to them (central) they just kept hanging on & as soon as they got a sniff like the good side they are they took it with both hands, the bays proved they are good enough to test them, match them & next time (in 2 weeks) we'll have to play the full 100 minutes to win, you would think that callinan & hayes will improve their team even more while i can only see maybe hinge, kellock or liebelt coming in for us & barring hinge they aren't in the same class as callinan or hayes

the battle was won by central but the war isn't over yet
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

p.s. Sturt are due for win against the Tigers aren't they? ;)

Is that the best the Bays have got? ... well we'll see next week.

When's North's next game? ... oh damn, forgot, that's right, you were booted out last week and have to wait 6 months to see your team again. #-o

Just put the question out there. Not sure why you would post a troll response?

I will bite though. Yep, North's next game is 6 months away. The majority of intelligent Rooster supporters thought we were as good as where we finished the year.

Where did you think they'd finish then, TSG ;)

I guess if we had lost today all my posts would have been about the umpiring  . As we won I've tried to ignore it, at least until I watch the replay. However, I thought the umpiring was a disgraceful farce. In the end it made the win sweeter and more meritorious.

Which is the only final Centrals have been known to be vulnerable in over the last decade...

IMO it will now be more of a mental battle for the Bays. Looking at some of their players afterwards, I got the feeling they don't know what else they have to do to win. Apart from a couple of shots at goal (and McConnell), it is hard to see how or where they could have played much better. Kirkby and Murphy really impressed today.

100% correct, FH.
While we may have burst out of the blocks, we pride ourselves on Ginever's famous comment that he repeated over and over and over again - Port's mantra - "LATE GOALS ARE GREAT GOALS" - they can't be answered back.

Glenelg kicked the last two goals in time on of the first two quarters - we couldn't hit back. They got the wriggle on in the third, we ended with that desperate goal to keep it to 20 points. Momentum goes with it. Rest is history.

I'd be gobsmacked if we could draw three rabbits from the hat. Who's to say we won't be the hunted from a lead in a fortnight's time...

But with Griffin, Hayes and Callinan to be available for selection, we will have a strong, rested side going into the GF. Bays will be better for the outing too.

Note to Shane Harris: FFS, three replacements please. Deplorable standard of umpiring, who Glenelg bias for 3 quarters was ridiculous. The 'level ups' came with equally ridiculous decisions our way in the last quarter. Last weeks trio were excellent, can we have them back!

ST...

I thought they we're OK, not perfect but OK. To me they favoured the team that got front position. Us for the majority of the game and then in the crucial last quarter when the Dogs did the hard yards they got the decisions.
