Following on from C_P's post in the Lverpool thread, I checked out who sponsors who and for how much.
Liverpools deal worth £20m a year for 4 years puts them at the top of the league, followed by Man U with £14.5m with banckrupt US insurance giant AIG. Then comes Chelsea on £13m with Samsung.
Spurs makes up the bes of the rest with Mansion on £8.5m, then Arsenal and Man City with Emirates and Ethiad respectively on £5m. Burnley come in near the bottom with £400k from Cooke Oils (I know, not exactly a global power)
Aston Villa don't get a penny as they have decided to advertise Acorns, which is a xhildrens hospice, so hats off to the Villans for such a noble gesture, similarly to Barcelona who advertise UNICEF and don't make a peseta out of the deal.
There are two arab airlines, in Emirates and Ethiad. I can see the link with Ethiad and City, with thier new Arab owner but I'm not sure of any link between Arsenal and the arabs? Incidentally, I think Ethiad and Emirates are owned by the same paernt company.
Then there are the gambling sponsors who make up 7 of the EPL clubs with one (118Bet) sponsoring both Wigan and Bolton.. There are also two electronics sponsors in Samsung (Chelski) and LG (Fulham)
Something else I noticed was how the smaller clubs have local sponsors, Stoke (Nationwide Building Society, whose head office is in Stoke, i think), Burnley (Cooke Oils, whose office is in Burnley) and b4st4rds (Crown paints, who are based in Blackburn)
Finally, when Carlsbergs contract runs out with Liverpool, there will be only 1 brewing sponsor in the EPL, (Chang) with Everton. how times have changed.
