Why did Ellis get the arse at Victor? Seems a strange move - he seems a good bloke...

cyclops wrote:if that is true about luke ellis getting the arse as coach at victor then wot a f##n joke that club is considering they persisted with saucey for even longer.the games i seen i thought luke did a very good job, listening to teamwork all year he said luke was doing a good job, perhaps the hierachy at victor need to have a look at the cattle before giving the coach the arse after 1 season.yes i know its tough being a player/coach but 1 season give me a break.

to luke ellis come to morphett vale next season mate obviously you wont be able to coach but as a player id have him in my team any day of the week, reminds me so much of shane fishlock the way he goes about his business.

back to victor,so if all this is true surely both ellis brothers will be gone along with joras maybe a couple more yet they will be worse off than than wot they were thats for sure.id like to hear if teamwork has a comment on all this.

Hey Cyclops, I am not sure what the situation at Victor is at the minute as I have not spoken to anyone regarding this matter. If anything has happened I don't think it would be as bad as what some people on here are posting, for starters Luke Ellis would not have been given the 'Ass'.
I my opinion Luke Ellis is a good bloke and in 2009 as a player coach serviced the club well both on and off the field. Every opposition club seen the quality of player he is as most clubs payed him the respect of a tagger or atleast keep a very close eye on his movements. He bought down some quality recruits in Dale Ellis and Sammy J, unfortunately Sammy J wont be around next year and thats due to travel reasons and all the best to Sammy with his travels and Dale was contracted for 1 year and will decide over summer what his movements for next year will be.
Some will criticise the way Victor finished the year off as to the way we started the season, I don't think the finger can be pointed at anyone for this as it really just comes down to depth, we had allot of key injuries and couldn't cover our losses then we played a few guys with injuries that restricted the impact they would have on games but it also showed the respect they have for Luke as a coach as they still took to the field and put in what they could, Luke included!
When I receive any more info I will pass it on, I expect a few talks after footy trip will take place...

Good luck to all side in the GF tomorrow,
Goolwa in the Jnr colts for me with LF to be the first coach to win a flag under the GPEFC name, good luck mate
Would like to see Myponga win the Senior colts, hopefully the shaved heads give then that extra step!
Strath in the B's (Mclaren have the luxury of not having the A grade side playing also) but Strath should cover them
Willunga to get the 6 in a row

Yea, wouldn't surprise me if they go with a 'local' next year. Randall Follett is another possible maybe?

How many points would EB have for next year? Thats nearly as relevant as $'s these days. They would probably be looking at getting a few blokes who had played there in the past who might be worth minimum points - White, Jagadonik, Bayliss etc etc, maybe even Modra.

Could Rigney and Jagodnik go to the Maggies to play with Ewer next season?? All real good mates.

rigney may but i would have my dounts about jagger, in his days at the bays he grew to hate goolwa just as much as everyone else

Jagger does know a couple of GPE lads from when they played juniors back at Reynella, with another 2 or 3 guys he is already mates with i think the hate that he may or may not have had towards GPE would gone.

Tips for tomorrow:

Reserves - McLaren to win, home ground advantage. How sweet would it be to play a home GF? i see Mannum are in the same situation.

Main event - Willunga...again. The little porkchop BOG (if he plays)

Four games that should all be close deep into the last quarter.
THe magpies to win a nail biter over willunga, i notice loves footy has been quiet this week, obviously setting game plans. Good luck to him his side has been the best team through the year and deserve the win. Magpies 1point.
The mudlarks to reverse the 2nd semi result, tipping with my heart with my fingers crossed. Myponga or Myponga-Sellicks have never won an under age premiership in great southern. Mudlarks under a goal against compass. ( For those of you who remember the flying, squarking , mudlark to make an appearance).
Mclarens with the week off to out last a fast finishing strath. mclarens 3points
underdogs strath if they can stay with willunga early may cause an upset in what should be one for the ages. srath just.
Hang on to your hats guys looks like being one hell of a day.

Victor Harbor can't afford the $56,000 for himself & brother!
That was the figure the Victor Harbor President (Howard) quoted to
myself & the Publican in the front bar of the Grosvenor 2 weeks ago!

I don't know if this is legit or not, but why would you as a supporter of the EBFC post this on here, given that it is likely to alert other clubs to Lewis as a potential coach?

This could have huge repercussions for the rampant drug use in the GSFL with that whistle-blower floating around!!!

Congratulations to Leigh Pope who in his first year umpiring will be one of the men in charge of the GSFL A-Grade Grand Final. Expect the game to flow when in Popey's third. =D> Great stuff Leighroy, hopefully more ex-players and soon to be retired players can follow your lead and take up umpiring!

Been at the club all day.
You are spot on teamwork.

Can you bring your own grog....No

Can you bring your own BBQ...yes

Yes there will be security there.

Each club that has finals teams playing has been allocated an area which has been roped off.
Goolwa and Strath have organised buses for players/supporters.
Went to the barn for tea at about 6.30 and there was already heaps of cars in

Picks for tomorrow.
14/s ..Goolwa/Pt Elliot by a couple of goals
17's..Myponga/Sellicks in a close one and for Compass young McMillan to be BOG
Reserves..Will be close but gotta go for The McLaren team
A's...Willunga. Haskett to be the key. Strath could do worse than try to tag him out with Ben Wilson.

Yep,

And Myponga won the senior colts by 1 pt !

And McLaren won the B grade by 7 pts - I think - Well we won anyway !!

WOOOOO HOOOOO GO Eagles !!! :supz:

I think there would have been some kind of crowd record set today,
I have never seen so many people at a Grandfinal.
The oval was packed to capacity with cars,
and there were cars all the way down the road for a kilometre or two !

Huge, huge crowd.
