S.A Technical Colleges not wanted by the State Goverment

Postby Sojourner » Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:10 am

Listening to 5AA this morning they have revealed that the Techical Colleges set up by the Federal Goverment under John Howard are no longer to recieve any Federal Funding and the State Goverment has no interest in funding them under State Public Eduction.

In Victoria the Techincal Colleges there have simply been moved across and made State Government Schools.

In South Australia the Colleges at Christies Beach and the Northern Suburbs have been gifted to the Catholic Church and will be run as Catholic Technical Colleges for those that can afford Private Education.

It seems that the State Goverment are hell bent on doing all they can to whiteant public education and to push students into Private Schools and trying to make private schools the majority in eduction in this state.

Why a so called Labor Government wants to so openly whiteant public education is beyond me. Yet I cant see the Liberal party putting up any opposition to the plan either. Why would they when the Labor Goverment is more right wing than they are?

Is it just a coincidence that Monsignor Cappo, a high ranking Catholic cleric, is thick as thieves with the current government?

I can see the conversation now:
State MP 1: These technical colleges were OK when we could suck the money for them from the Feds.
State MP 2: Yes but our mate Kev has stopped that since the change of government.
State Minister: Well there's no money in our budget to maintain them.
Catholic Church: Don't worry mate we'll take them off your hands.
Another State Minister: I wonder if the Catholic Church likes hospitals and health centres...

One might think that of all the Political Parties to have an interest in encouraging Teenagers to have an opportunity at an Apprenticeship that it would be and should be the Labor party.........
