birdwood have always had quality juniors, with an excellent system of training and promoting junior footy, and regardless of the result on saturday (lets hope they get up) have proved that again this year.

Liam is the key to that Birdwood side. Any team would love to be able to kick the ball long into the forward half to a contest and have the ball marked eight times out of ten. Lofty 17's were a super-short team this year and had nobody who could go with Davis and that was probably the difference on the weekend.

I think Hahndorf go in slight favourites in the U17's, only because of the fatigue factor for Birdwood. For me, the Roosters are a more complete side and they'll have a real crack, but the Maggies have only played two games in four weeks (will be itching to go) and have been preparing for this match since half way through the season.

Should be a good day of footy.

also with hahndorf versus birdwood, the onli way hahndorf can lose is the bubonic plague strikes all 21 members!!!

Haha, Silky keep talking up your colts - it seemed to work for the A grade!!

How come Brett Todd didn't play last week? Injury?

I can't remember ever saying that - but for the record, I think any team can get beaten on GF day - just ask GH about TV last weekend!!

As I wasn’t at the game on Saturday, how much did Mt Lofty win by and if these A-graders didn’t play would have Mt Lofty still won the game?

There are so many **** people on their high horse in here, it's a wonder there hasn't been a mass trampling. Jokers...or jockies. I bet you're all loving it too. Well that leaves Uraidla with at least 1 flag this year, which is disgusting and makes me sick.

And for the record, Mt Lofty gave Blackwood an absolute bath on the weekend. Even if the players in question hadn't played, Mt Lofty still would have won the game I was watching, with Sincas gathering somewhere in the vacinity of 673 touches, 649 of which were effective.

Yep we sure are, but why wouldn't we, I don't recall anyone from Lofty taking back their comments about blaming Ironbank for their disqualification last year.

Liam has had a good year but why isn't he down town. He's a big lad and a good kick, good in this grade struggled in A's when I saw him. Would have been interesting to see how IB would have gone if they had played thier 6 premiership players from last year that were still eligible for snr colts in their age group this year. Reckon I know what might have happened. Anyway good luck saturday. And I'm a lofty kind a guy. Good luck to all teams this weekend.

No inferiority complex here mate. just a big fan of the mighty Liam 'choo choo' Davis, and think when he kicks 10+ goals in a game, he probably deserves a little respect!

big congrats to all the birdwood u/17's, they've already done the club proud by making it this far, and will no doubt give it their absolute best on saturday.

Heard on the GV that Jeremy Aufderheide will be coaching Lobey next season (forgive me if this is already common knowledge). Great appointment by the Tigers, and I have also heard that if Centrals get up this year (formality really), that a few of the new coaches ex-teammates may be joining him for a run next season. I would be more specific with names but I haven't heard any.

Kym Cobb guuuuuuuun you reckon silky? When was the last time he had an opponent? He is the Heath Shaw of the HFL. He must have fallen over in the shower because he wouldn't have sustained a hit playing footy, you sort of need to be near an opposition player to do that.

Please win both grades Uraidla, after the couple of weeks Lofty have had, a Blackwood premiership would probably tip me right over the edge!!

Finally, best of luck to the Lofty JC's, gun team coached by one of the most, um, innovative junior grade coaches going round!!

Birdwood vs Hahndorf - Senior Colts

Hahndorf have the likes of Trent Male (if he plays), Luke Roberts and Anthony Tripodi

Birdwood have the likes of Liam Davis (star), Jake Snowden and Jock Cameron just to name a few

I think the b'wood boys will have a huge crack, they deserve the chance they have got, they have played consistently well all year

Hanhndorf obviously going in as the favourites, but never underestimate the UNDERDOGS!

Birdwood to get up by 2 goals in a nail biter (if Male doesnt play)

Cobby will play !

He copped a knock saturday and yes was sent off to hospital for scans that came back negative.
Being really pumped at the chance of the mighty woods breaking an 18 yr A grade premiership drought i headed up to the club to watch them train. Cobby was a bit saw and only walked a couple of laps with a few other, to remain nameless saw players. He said he was hoping to train thursday ( today ) for 30 to 45 minutes. I would think being a rather important game he will get up for this one.
Of bigger concern is it going to be dry saturday - looking up in those Hills the past 2 days it looks pretty dark.

Male wont play senior colts - he is at sturt 18's with O'sullivan and Shearwood. They play sunday. Noske will stand Davis and at 6'3 and mobile will handle him like last time. Mid field will win it for magpies. Will be good game though. Best game of day probably. Bring it on.

I'd take Pipes Stapleton over Cobb any day of the week. We must differ in how we clasify gun players- and I am happy to give credit where I think it is due- Now Paul Magarey, that guy is a gun. He is a ball winner, runs hard and kicks goals, one of the top five players in the comp IMO, carves us up pretty much every time we play Blackwood. If I were S Sutherland, would be asking Tim Martin to drive over to Magarey's house right now, go inside and sit next to him on his couch and don't leave his side until 5.00pm Saturday.

stapleton is hard as nails, but i think your joshin yaself taking him ahead of cobb, cobb beats stapleton on a break!!! its no real contest between them, but thats only my opinion, i also rate mcCormick ahead of magarey, i wud tag him before magarey, and i would tag hollands before magarey
