agreed. its not the leagues problem. if lofty wanted these players in all they had to do was get a permit which they would have been allowed. i dont agree with the current rules but while they are there u have to abide by them. its up to lofty to worry about lofty not the hfl.

I think good on the HFL for having the balls to make such a tough but the right decision. Rules are rules and if Mt Lofty didn't fully know the rules by now after last year (and didn't Blackwood make this mistake the year before) they must have some very dumb people there involved in selecting the teams.

As I wasn’t at the game on Saturday, how much did Mt Lofty win by and if these A-graders didn’t play would have Mt Lofty still won the game?

It's not their place to have to notify you, you should be aware of the rules pertaining to permits etc. Any club rep worth their salt would have known the nuts & bolts of what is required, don't try to put the blame on anyone else but yourselves.

What's worse than not winning a game all year??

......................making the Grand Final and then being disqualified.

great to see those 'talentless' and 'overrated' U/17's from birdwood make it all the way to the grandfinal. lead by their overrated goalkicker Liam Davis.... now c'mon lofty, uraidla, blackwood, ironbank supporters.. start listing all the players from your clubs who are better than these birdwood hacks.. start telling us how liam davis would never make it down town, doesnt compare to all the talent coming out of mt.lofty and ironbank etc. etc. etc.

birdwood have always had quality juniors, with an excellent system of training and promoting junior footy, and regardless of the result on saturday (lets hope they get up) have proved that again this year.

But surely the HFL wouldnt want to resort to having to disqualify a team from the GF when a simple phone call could have been made?

They don't notify anyone, they aren't your mother.

So what if they played B grade the week before, the A grade were still playing therefore making any player eligible to play B grade. As soon as the A grade aren't playing, you need to have played more B grade games than A grade during the 18 game season to qualify for the B's. It has nothing to do with them playing in the semi-final the week before.

The fact that they had played B grade the previous two weeks of finals means that they probably would have been granted the permits, no questions asked but it is still a formality you need to go through. A bit of bureaucracy but no big deal really I would have thought.

Stop grizzling Devils, you stuffed up, no-one else. Correct me if I'm wrong but as members of the HFL don't the clubs set the rules? That means Mt Lofty were involved in setting the rules that they didn't abide by. Get over it. Start preparing for next season!

As far as i know no one from Blackwood has said anything other than good things about Birdwood under 17's.
I would think most of the Blackwood supporters will be cheering on Birdwood in the last quarter while we set up to see our VERY LUCKY B GRADE because you are playing Hahndorf.
I think Birdwood to win by five goals.
Strong bodies like Davis, Matters and Cunningham. Well balanced team playing for a passionate local coach.

Most of IBs senior u17s played in town or in A grade, but I don't see any point in comparing. I think Rooster may have used any Birdwood team if they made the finals to start a 'I told you so' with anyone he doesn't like.

Hope Birdwood win anyway.

Rooster - get rid of your inferiority complex. Hopefully your lads can have a win on saturday. You have an even spread of talent. Hahndorf are very good though. Liam has had a good year but why isn't he down town. He's a big lad and a good kick, good in this grade struggled in A's when I saw him. Would have been interesting to see how IB would have gone if they had played thier 6 premiership players from last year that were still eligible for snr colts in their age group this year. Reckon I know what might have happened. Anyway good luck saturday. And I'm a lofty kind a guy. Good luck to all teams this weekend.

I think Rooster might just be responding to a poster/s that made a few comments saying Birdwood's U17's weren't much chop mid season (can't be bothered checking posts).

Very passionate our ol' Rooster!! :D

Good luck to all our boys on Saturday - they've got a great bunch of kids in that team and if they can bring their A game, then they will have huge chance to bring home our first (??) flag in central division.

The lads heading up into seniors next year will make our senior teams quite competitive for a few years to come.

Go the Roosters!!

Liam only played the one A grade game and from memory it was the one against Ironbank where the majority of our team struggled. :(

From my understanding, basketball is his no. 1 passion which he is very good at ( made state U18 team I think) and he missed a couple of games to play b'ball interstate.

I just hope we can see both of the Davis brothers/bookends playing senior footy together for Birdwood next year as they are great blokes for the club - on and off the field - especially Miss Birdwood, right Josh!! ;)

heard a big rumour Kym Cobb wont be playing this weekend, as he apparently had internal bleeding or something along those lines...not a 100% sure but its a fairly reliable blackwood source, Brett Todd is waiting in the wings to pounce on his omission..

also with hahndorf versus birdwood, the onli way hahndorf can lose is the bubonic plague strikes all 21 members!!!
