does that say more about her ability or the lack of depth in the womens game??

No way its the lack of woman tennis because nowadays theres a lot more at the top getting beaten by new players. Plus not that long ago she was the world no.1. just had some time off to start a family

yeah i know she semi-retired to have kids etc, and obviously highly talented but she hasnt been back on the circuit that long
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Seems to be an extraordinary letoff.

Why I don't know but a ban from the next U.S. open or Wimbledon would be far more appropriate.

Then they let her play the women's doubles final.

If you read the whole article it states

is the maximum on-site penalty that can be issued for unsportsmanlike conduct at a Grand Slam tournament.

Much like the AFLPA. they can only give a max $5000 fine but then the club and AFL can take it further

it also states that it's not over and more investigations are continuing.

IMO they probably let her play doubles because it had nothing to do with the singles incident. Why should Venus be punished in an incident that didn't involve her. as i said IMO.
