U/14's Goolwa to get over the courageous Yankalilla in a tight game
U/17's Strathalbyn will beat Myponga. Unfortunately the Myponga boys have got a bit ahead of themselves and will be out in straight sets. Unless there is a heap of rain the Strath team will have too much pace and run.
Reserves and A's ....Hard to pick.
Depends on who Langhornes can put on the park
I think Langhornes will win both the A's and the Reserves

Yetti you were wrong, In a great game a switched on mudlark unit played the better footy to win a thriller. A bumper crowd in great conditions, bring on the big one.

How so Yetti? I thought there was nothing between the top 4 in the 17's. Wouldn't say that have printed premiership t-shirts yet like some others....

WOW....would you get your lovely long locks removed when you made the finals, or would you wait until you actually won the GF?
Watching them at Yank on Saturday, there were a few individuals out there compared to the team (played good team footy) that flogged McLarens during the year.

Haha over the years theres been a few shots at removing the locks but i would definently remove them for a premiership of my own. Unfortunately nature will probably take it course & it may all fall out before that happens. Looking forward to watching the young pongy boys hopefully have a win this week at Mclarens.

Apologies but i didn't have a budget with me. these are just some of my thoughts. I had not seen either team play much this year.

Well i got there just before quarter time and Strath had first use of breeze which was blowing to non clubrooms end but probably more towards pocket where bowling club is.

In general Strath's speed and better ball use won it for them. just cleaner with their skills and they were able to harrass Creeks players into mistakes. Creeks didn't seem to be working too well as a team..

Crucially Strath converted their shots on goal at crucial times of game whereas Langhorne Creek. couldn't. EG third quarter Creeks had first two shots on goal both set shots but missed both.. would have made a big difference to rest of quarter.

the wind while still blowing had dropped a bit from morning and by half way through third quarter had even started to swing around and start to head towards clubroom wing/flank.

Feast didn't do much in my opinion. took a couple of marks on last line of defence, kicked a goal in last quarter yet his taps seemed ineffectual. Strath were able to nullify Creeks midfielders so while Feast tapped ball well it was straight to creek player who was already under pressure. i felt Feast needed to punch the ball clear of the pack a bit more than what he did. but hey I'm just former hack back pocket players so there is no cred in comments!

What i did notice was Strath had plenty of speed which i think most regular watchers would already know about but they have a couple of beautiful long kicking midfielders who covered 50m easily. One goal by no 22? (sorry i didn't have a budget) was beauty. Creeks had been making a bit of a charge in last quarter and strath steadied with a goal and then after the bounce eventually the ball made it's way out onto Strath forward flank (near entrance to ground) where a lot of their supporters had set up camp. No 22? picked up the ball and you could here the strath supporters yelling out "goal goal" and sure enough from about 45-50m he just launched a beautiful kick on the run and split the middle and the game was all over well and truly.

Creek did begin to rally in the last term getting to within 3 goals, a big influence was straths pressure on the ball carrier as well as keeping the Creeks major ball winners impact on the game to a minimum, Hill was kept goalless which was a great effort as in recent weeks he had hurt teams by pushing forward while on the ball.

the goal on the run was from Strath Centre Half Forward Pegler no.13. which sunk the hearts of the Langhorne Creek team and supporters who new the game was out of reach from there. Another expensive year for the Creek with no reward!

Peglar will need to fire this Saturday for the roosters, has an amazing leg on him and can take very strong marks. BJ who is likely to get the job on Pegs? Glass? Will be a key position to win for both sides. If Strath can get their defence to fire it will also go along way to giving themselves a sniff come the last quarter.

Yep, copped a couple of remarks to that tune Saturday.

It doesn't really bother me though, water off a ducks back. Many people have worked very hard to secure the club an income stream that provides funds to ensure a 'flag chance' squad takes the field every year. If any club had the same funds available they would do the same thing.

I'm glad that I support a club that has an excellent administration with the business savvy to keep the club in such a strong position every year. Thanks to them the premiership window at Langhorne Creek is always open, what other club can say that?

Well said Ginger!! All clubs would do the same, they spend want they can afford and Creeks have put themselves in a good position to afford players like Moore and Feast.

It would be safe to say that $5 admission fee is worth it to see Moore and Feast at their best, this generates money back to the club by getting people through the gates. Admission plus a few drinks and something to eat $20, times that by 50 people that may not be at the game if they were getting beaten each week, that's a $1000, probably covers Moore and half Feasts payments. Smart clubs look at it this way.

Have just read on the Hills Country forum that Mitchell is likely to be heading from enc Bay to Mt Barker (i think). Cuzzy or Signman can you shed any light on this? Any favourites for the position at the Bays next year?

Correct me if im wrong but Langhorne creek made it to a preliminary final last year?
without Feast, Moore, Sherwood, Miller, Murgatroyd, Norman ?? all highly paid players for the creek this year. It would seem to me that a huge amount of money has been spent for the same result. You cant just expect by buying loading up on players for 1 year will get you a flag, it doesnt work that way.

No-one I've talked to at the Creek 'expected' to win the flag this year, to suggest such is ridiculous. The players you've named were recruited to ensure that the club had a realistic shot at the flag. We did, but things didn't work out. So be it, that's footy, and we'll do it all again next year.

Not too sure P32, I'd reckon pretty good though. They all got involved in the club and seemed to enjoy their time at the Creek, so I would back most if not all to make a return next year.

Would have to be question marks over how much more footy Murgatroyd has left in him following a knee injury?

Yep, would be doubts about him fronting next year. He lives in the local area though, so I wouldn't really count him as an 'outside' recruit. He moved to the area for work, so it was always the Creek or Strath that were going to get him. If he doesn't play I'm sure the club will find another role for him to keep him involved.

I'm Led to believe Murgatroyds decorated career is over due to injury and heard that Sherwood mightn't be available due to buissness committments ?

Who was the Creek player who got a bit ROWDY yesterday at their Mad Monday show yesterday who was strutting around Hawk Park when Maslins beach would have been a more appropriate venue.
