The pitch report of Centenary Oval as requested by Another Grub. It is looking ok this time of year and after a lengthy discussion with pitch preparer, he told me it is the second time this pitch has been used and he isn't sure what it will be like so that didn't install much confidence in me especially if I'm out there facing the music in the first over. Very green which was surprising with the lack of rain and should be a bowlers wicket so a score of 150 or thereabouts will be good. The outfield is medium and not as long as it has been in the past so runs should be slightly easier to make.
Any thoughts on the cricket/football association opening the canteen during the day at centenary?? Has it happened in the past ?? I know my home club in adelaide opens the canteen during the cricket season and makes a small profit. Might get a few people to the ground if they know they can get food and a drink rather then having to bring it all from home.
Any thoughts??

For the 4 sandwiches, 6 cans of coke & 3 mars bars that would get sold, probably not worth it. Plus you'd have to find somone willing to sit in there all day!

Fair call there bystander in relation to the canteen. I'll just have to keep going to KFC for my weekend cricketing supplements then especially after a big night at oceans.
I forgot how hard it is to get people to work in a canteen as I always had the luxury of my club having dedicated ladies that put in their time to run the canteen 12 months of the year. It would be a problem over here no doubt.
Just another question for the cricketers and that is about the game going late and the problem of darkness especially before daylightsaving. With starting at 12:30pm and it being 45 overs what happens if the game goes down to the last few overs, it could become a problem. Will it be left to umpire and captains to decide?? or the batsmen out there??

howdy PUMA.I will be going fishing and hope to play a few games before i leave and hope to be back later part of the season.Yes it is good that tyson is still playing for tasmans, but in all seriousness, not through bad luck and unfortunate circumstances should the club be punished for a very difficult decision and well history will speak for itself on that one.I applaude him for not taking the easy option, because he has shown a great test of character and Tasman Cricket Club can only hope that this is the start of big things to come.Im a great believer in his ability with the bat and am looking forward to him making runs and shoving it in our faces.

Dodd should have left. Those ring in players glory hunting players stole his thunder last year. How could the club do that to him?
Will be another 50 years before they win another one anyway.

Great win by the boys yesterday, chasing Ramblers 10/105, (Ray Whillas 5/34, all bowled) Ash & young Pete Baldock made the score in about the 23rd over without losing a wicket, Ash 59 n.o. & Pete 32 n.o.

my advise is to not get excited over that bystander. Tumby cricket is a cross between our A grade and Bgrade. Should be about your standard. Ash could have made 100 if he was fit.
The best game was at Poole Oval.

Both sides were extremely short, we had 7 B-Graders playing and 4 of those didn't make our B-Grade GF side last year! Ramblers reckon they had about 6 out, will have even more this week due to Tumby footy clubs annual trip.

Now settle down Zoo. Whats wrong with being a Robot anyway? Bystander just can't control himself after the weekends heroics. Floating on air, 10 foot tall and bullet proof. Long drive not to get a hit though bystander. I'm surprise you didn't get the opening duties along side Ash. They just don't appreciate your talents now do they. :P  :? :P  :?

We made 170 odd on a slow pitch at centenary, cant remember all the run scorers but orchy was top scorer with 40odd i think??, we bowled em out for 90 - 100 or something like that, reidy took 1 wicket, kennedy took 2, gourlay gourlay got 2, i got 3 so was a good team effort and the team was happy with the result, one poor kid dis-located his shoulder diving to save his wicket on the turf!! ouch!

We lost by about 40-50 runs, Hogan got a ton and Tassies ended up with 3/217... think we ended 4/170 or 180, Noddy and Basco made the runs for us.

OL Tasman might not have won the flag without the glory hunting ring in players your talking about and no one stole his thunder. A tough decision was made and it was obviously the correct one as they went on to win the flag. He has showed more character then most by staying at Tasman's after what happened and I hope he scores plenty of runs this year, just not against us. They will win more flags, now the monkey is off their back and they are the team to beat again this year. Hogan, Fauser, Smith, T Dodd, MJ, Tonks and Razz are all quality players.
As I stated prior to the match on saturday at Centenary Oval, 150 runs would be enough and it was. It was slow deck that made playing shots pretty tough and the uneven bounce was evident. Still it was a reasonable pitch for this time of the year and it was a competitive game. Be nice to see the outfield cut regularly to help scoring.
Congrats to SUDSY for a ton in the first game. Must be seeing them well already this year. Hopefully your around to play in the henderson shield side this year.

Does this mean you get an A grade recall bystander? Send back Rainbow as well and then you can open the batting and the bowling.
