AFL 2009 Preliminary Finals

Postby Wedgie » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:02 pm

Friday Night:
St Kilda v Bulldogs

Saturday Night:
Geelong v Collingwood

Has the making of an absolutely awesome weekend of footy, I'm going over, got tickets for the Saturday night game but might just watch the Friday night game on TV as I'm still spewin about forking over almost $200 to go see the Hawthorn v St Kilda bore fest last year even though I'll be there.
Should be a great weekend in Melbourne with 4 Victorian clubs there though!
Anyone else going and want to catch up?

Should be a cracking atmosphere next Saturday night, a sell out perhaps?
Luckily my family are Victorian members of the Cats so we're assured Premium seats, mind you they cost a premium price!
Would have been awkward if the Crows got up tonight and Missus Wedgie was sitting in the middle of the Cats fans barracking for the Crows but no such problem now. ;)

Cats to win.
I couldn't imagine either side that played tonight getting over the line against them after that game. Very tough.

You going over mate?
Collingwood are our consistent bogey side and we always struggle in Prelim so I'm expecting nothing but a close encounter.

Only if you're talking about father son picks mate, Geelong would be the last team you'd complain about getting top order pics as we've never been near the bottom of the ladder, they say you have to be at the bottom of the ladder to build a premiership side (such as Hawthon, the Saints, etc) but Geelong have proven that wrong, a lot of their great players were taken quite low. But yes, I will admit we've fared well with the Father/Son rule, not our fault if our players have good sperm. ;)

They'll think about it. I lived in Melbourne for the last 10 years and read and heard their media all the time.
When Brisbane were winning the started to turn them back into Fitzroy, and Sydney started being referred to as South's again when strong.
Geelong were not completely embraced as they are not truly a Melbourne team, and during this time of non-Melbourne dominance the stronger home teams - the Bulldogs and the Saints - have been being talked up constantly..
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!
