Surely James will play. Slade perhaps is a tougher question, and Havelberg might need another run. Very useful having the ressies in with the double chance. Means more guys keep playing in the 2s to press their cases or get more match conditioning in. Hopefully Griffin comes up as well. Will be a very interesting selection this week.

Happy from my perspective to hear Hayes is available. Not sure I agree with the penalty, but that's the way the system seems to work in this comp. Hopefully he can put that behind him and really try to make a difference in a week he might think of as a bonus game. Would have to have been worried he mightn't play.

I'm hearing the same thing, and don't be suprised if Ian Callinan doesn't play either...

Chambo did get a knock to the knee against Port late in the game and limped off. How severe it is I'd have no idea. Even if Chambo was out for the game I think that we would have the depth to cover the champion. I can't make the game, and hating the fact but I have a feeling that we'll win. We've bled enough in finals recently, now it's time to stand up!

Sturt are the only side in the competition with a 'spearhead' type full forward Drebin so sides can certainly kick scores without one, including Sturt.

The likes of Gum, Herring, Crane, Johncock and co will have to stand up and certainly can.

Ben Warren was the next best forward in the competiton with 40 odd goals and we all know where South finished the year.

Chambers is important but not the be all and end all to victory.

No denying that Gum and Crane are important as small fwd scoring options as a supplement to Chambers as is Herring however how much more expectation will there be on Herring to step up and play at FF leaving Johncock at CHF if chambers is out? Those two are hardly an imposing big fwd line on a big ground IMO?

Losing Chambers would be a massive blow as I said and I can't see enough other scoring options from the talls in Herring and Johncock? However if Thurstans plays at CHB would Coad be an option up fwd - he has been in impressive form of late? That may be a better option to stretch Centrals tall defenders with the 3rd tall.

However, if it rains it may not matter as much if Chambers is an out and there are only 2 talls in the fwd line.

I take your point mate but as much as I hope Chambo comes up, I think there are other players in our side that we would potentially miss more.

Coad or Thurstans could play up forward if need be (if Toby comes up).

Someone has got to force these buggers to play a first semi-final sooner or later! ;)

I am confident we have the game and personnel to do just that.

Herring is leading the comp marks tally and nudging the top 10 goal kickers.
Johncock is our 3rd placed goal kicker this year.

Imposing? Maybe not, but the 2 of them are getting the job done.

We have played one or two others up forward who have contributed.
If no Chambo, I would play Jimmy (Zep Boy) Plant at FF.
Keeps the forward structure intact.

Coad has played his best footy in the last month at CHB. That is where he should stay, unless we have a need to 'rob Peter to pay Paul'.

If Toby is parked at FB and with McLeay back on deck we have options and that is something we haven't had for the second half of the season.

Anyone who thinks a Sturt team without Chambers is going to be anywhere near as good as a team with Chambers in it are deluding themselves.

I just hope the Central players don't think like that though ;)

I don't see anyone posting on here that believes that whufc. Chambers is in our best 21 and indeed one of the first names on the teamsheet, however if he doesn't play it's not the end of modern civilization as we know it, as much as some opposition supporters would have us believe.

Tell me, if Central are without Slade, O'Hara, J. Gowans and Sturt are missing Chambers, who do you feel is most affected?

I do agree with you, but i think some people are very much down playing the impact Chambers has.

If Central were without Slade, O'Hara and J.Gowans Central would be more affected but i can guarentee without doubt that at least one of them 3 will play this weekend.

STURT is hopeful gun full forward Brant Chambers will be right for Sunday’s qualifying final against Central District despite missing training this week.

The Ken Farmer Medallist did not train with the main group on Monday and Wednesday nights after pulling up sore from last week’s win over Port Adelaide.

``It’s general soreness,’’ Double Blues football operations manager Duane Massey said.

``We’ll name him tonight and expect him to play.

``He’ll train on Saturday and we’re 95 per cent certain he’ll play.’’

Sturt will make at least one change to its team this week with seasoned midfielder Ben Nelson out with a hamstring strain.

Massey said it’s hoped Nelson will be available next week.

I would expect both clubs to release 24 man sqauds tonight including all "injury clouded" players which will add more intrigue to the discussion.
