200 Game Milestone

Postby Big Phil » Tue Sep 08, 2009 3:25 pm

Provided they both play this weekend for their respective sides, James Gowans from Central and Jade Sheedy from Sturt will line up for 200th game of SANFL league football, which is a magnificent achievement from 2 very good footballers who have some great records.

CONGRATULATIONS to James and Jade.

Both have been great servants of their clubs and the SANFL and their longevity in the league should be duly acknowledged.

There would be no question mark on whether Jade plays or not but James Gowans missed last week with an ankle injury so there may be some doubt on him for this one, but listening to him on 5RPH last week, he said he should be right for the big game.

Congrats to both Jade and James a great effort to reach 200 games in the SANFL.

200 good games from the pair of them as well.

Any truth in the rumour that the coach wanted James Gowens to sit out last week to motivate the dogs for his 200th in the finals?

No don't think so more so that if he played last week his 200 may have been his last game for the season.

James Gowans also said on radio that his ankle was still swolen and sore, which going by his slight limp seeing him at the Parade, would suggest he was legit with the injury and not fronting.

Still not a certainty to play this week, would suggest a decision will be made late, they will wait and see how he pulls up after training on Friday night.

Yeah, I was thinking that, I know Jade gets on well with the Gowans twins, he is a carpenter as well like them, so I think they bump into each other on job sites from time to time.

About 4 or 5 less than James from memory...

Regardless of however many more games the Dogs play this year, Chris will just fall short of the 200 this season, so I suggest he will go around again in 2010 to notch up the double century.

Of course, that therfore means James will proably play on as well, just to be competitve with the sibling !!

Which is the one that King Hit Schubert in the dying stages of the 2007 GF. I would have thought that he was behig in games played given the suspension?

Let's not bring up that old chest nut again mate, we could be here all night !! ;)

It was James Gowans who hit Shane Shubert in '07 decider ( but let's not forget there was footage found of him hitting Gowans first thanks to Mark Soderstrom ) and whilst James indicated his regret in the incident, he ended up serving a 3 game suspesion for that little 'revenge' indiscretion.

Chris missed a lot of footy last year with a knee injury, hence the reason he is behind in the tally a little, and if my memory serves me correct, he also missed a few weeks back in '04 or '05 after a nail gun accidently went off and put a nail through his elbow

Anyway, well done to James (and Jade) as mentioned earlier, both great players and blokes of the SANFL...
