It concerns me greatly when umpires don't know the blood rule, don't know the basics such as runner interference, numbers in the square etc etc. They WILL have an affect on the outcome. To say an incorrect decision doesn't have an effect on the game is wrong, all decisions have an impact on the game, right or wrong. Some may not result in a score but it will impact on player's frustration and result in player confusion which will further impact on the way we play the game.

That makes perfect sense to me, so I've changed my mind. Jenner and Jumbo to do all remaining finals. Clearly the best two umpires. ;)

 - probably could have a crack just one problem - running! Thanks for the vote anyway MC.

I was at Balak on Saturday and couldn't believe that no call. Surely if a club's runner touches the ball during play, either intentionally or non-intentially, it is still a free kick.

And coming from the amateur league where the crowds aren't huge, if that crowd at Balak was a small one, I'd hate to try to move around when there's a decent one. Although $3 for snag is a bit rich.

I dont think that decision had much of an influence on the game did it, there we plenty of others that we worse than that one.

Harden up mate, if 3 bucks is too much to pay for a feed then maybe you should have been there Sunday collecting the empty cans around the place. Snags are there to raise $$$ for the club afterall.
The decision itself didn't have a massive impact on the game, you're right, my point was just that surely the umpires would know that it's a free kick. Everyone else at the ground did?

I wasn't making a massive deal about the snag mate, and I know it raises money for the club, I'll be working behind a BBQ on Saturday. I mentioned it because everything else I got was pretty cheap (Beers $4, Hot Dog $3.50), just thought it was a bit strange to see the discrepancy between the BBQ and the other food/drinks, that's all. Not a massive thing, I areally enjoyed the game and the atmosphere out there, having never seen an APFL game before, and only one country footy game before it.

nah - reckon it was the outgoing Umpires Co-ordinator Doug Tallboy. The one and only (thank god) didn't get a game on the weekend that I saw.

I did see D Searle offer his services for a umpiring gig on Sunday (on Saturday at Balaklava) to D Tallboy and the "handball" from D Tallboy was outstanding - don't think Tallboy took up Searle's offer. Good move Tallboy.
