Collingwood v Adelaide - Semi Final

Postby Gingernuts » Mon Sep 07, 2009 2:13 pm

Thought I'd get discussion going early. :D

Early news, Pendlebury & Rocca out.

Any news on the Vince report? Should only get a fine if anything. Also read in the paper that Chris Knights could come under video scrutiny, has anything eventuated from this?

I reckon they'd be better off without Rocca anyway, someone like Dawes would probably be better. Pendlebury will be a loss though.

I think this game could go either way, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was less than a kick in it.

I also heard on the Radio this morning that Fraser could be out for some reason? anyone heard about this?

Knights was for a knee low impact couldnt see anything more than a reprimand. It was infront of the members and a free kick was paid against him.

Vince will only get a fine for wrestling.

Very excited but cautious at the same time. Collingwood will bounce back with a better perfomance and im worried that Didak and Swan will flick the switch this weekend after a quiet game yesterday

It will be a tight game. Dale Lewis made an interesting point in the tiser today, said that if Adelaide can have the same amount of forward entries as Collingwood then they will go a long way to winning the game given the quality of their forward line.

Depends on the delivery though, one of the main reasons Collingwood beat us last time is that our delivery into the forward 50 was ordinary, often sending it down the throats of O'Brien, Shaw & Maxwell who in turn destroyed us on the rebound.

I'm predicting a quadrupule overtime classic with 19 reports.

If i were a crows supporter i would be a tad worried for a couple of reasons.

1) The crows have been made $1.73 favs with the bookies which firmly places the weight of expectation firmly on Adelaide. Their finals record when favourite has been ordinary under Neil Craig.

2) Malthouse's ability to get C'wood up for games where everyone has backed against them.

Of course nothing would be better then to get the finals monkey off the back by beating C'wood in Melbourne. But despite the shorter break I am going to tip C'wood by less then a goal.

i am really looking Forward to this game, we have to get some revenge for 2002 when we were on top and Jason Cloke round armed tyson Edwards,
its gunna be a tough game 60,000 collingwood supporters to 10 to 15000 crows supporters.
the crows won every stat in the last game against them but lost the game, hopefully we can make it count inside 50 this week.

Notice that Shirley, Bock & Van Berlo could all be fit this week. Who misses out if this is the case? Douglas will be one (unlucky), who else?

Talk of burton missing - he would be extremely unluck i reckon.. but who to drop, if all concerned are fit i would do the following.

In - V berlo, bock
out - douglas, symes.

Yes, symes would be unlucky but i think crows need an X factor player like burton instead... but then i guess the question is does stevens go back or forward?

badluck bombers we really never had a chance. lucky my 2nd team is Adelaide.

I'd go with those changes as well.

Douglas played pretty well on Friday, so would be a touch unlucky.
"Mr Average" Symes really puts in and hasn't been too bad lately, but you need to play your best players (if fit).

I'd think about dropping the runner who gave away the 50 as well ;)

Reilly has been great though. One effort in particular on Friday was sensational, over on the members wing. Think it was 1st or 2nd quarter, resulted in an Adelaide goal. It was his time to put his body on the line, and he did it.

Symes would be stiff, but he was always going to be in strife if everyone was available.

Good situation to be in though.

Too many times the pies have gotten themselves up and beaten us when they shouldn't have, but we are playing too well with too many blokes in form and too strong a forward line this time; just too good an all-round chance to miss imo. Crows to notch up one of their greatest ever wins with David Mackay making a name for himself on the big stage.

I get frustrated by him at times but you CANNOT drop Symes!

His hardness is brilliant and very underrated.

I agree. Bock surely is a huge risk.... Symes must stay in IMO
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
