3/4 Time
NW 10-13
CD 8-9
Anyones game at 3/4 time, Walker with 5 goals was the difference
CD did lead early 0-1 to 0-0 and then NW took over
Whenever CD challenged NW had the answers
Give credit to CD who gave NW over 2 goals start several times and kept trying
Norwoods biggest lead was 20 points after Hayes smashed Phillips illegally after a gutsy mark and Phillips scored a goal
Gutsy effort by CD to be as close at 3/4 time as they were
I thought NW would win at 3/4 time, Bayman fancied CD
A sMALl wager was placed between us on the result

Goodrem scores the first goal
Callinan gets another
NW 10-13
CD 10-10
What an effort by the underDOGS
Donoohuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuelegs scores

A controversial free kick to Thomas in defence , was then set up for a goal to Ben Nason
Nason on debut has the Jonny Platten hairdo, but blonde
Just quietly a very good debut
NW11-14
CD 11-11
2 more behinds to the dogs and only 1 point the difference
Could CD get within 1 game of NW in all Minor Round Games ?
NW 55
CD 53
Rowe marks and goals
NW 12-14
CD 11-14
Phillps got the ball was running unmarked at goal, from 30 mtrs out...shoots..and missses !!
Out on the Full
Phillps looked HAYESED !

Deep in the goalsquare a CD defender went to clear the ball, Phillips lunges, smothers the ball and a point results
CD reply with a point
NW12-15
CD11-15
The couragous Dogs are still in it
Could it be a DRAW ?????????????? The first Draw between the clubs...

The last few minutes were riddled by elimentary mistakes by both teams
The Dogs 2 games behind NW in all games, just could not get to the Legs all day

The ball was kicked forward [siren about to sound]
Giles comes out
The ball hits him on the chest
Giles Giles Giles
Drops the mark
OMG
The ball is cleared and shortly after the siren goes

NW 56
CD 53

CD supporters must be proud of this honourable defeat
NW needs to put away teams when in command, most NW followers whilst disappointed are relieved of the win.

And who was responsible for playing the Port Magpie song after the game .

Norwoods best
Mcguiness
Walker
Aish [where has he been all year]

Great write up Mal, much better than the 5RPH live feed that kept crapping out in the last quarter. Any chance that safooty.net can fund a blackberry for Mal so that he can do live updates for us?

Surely the quote of the round (to date):

I hope you didn't fleece bayman too badly. If you did he must have deserved it anyway. ;)

If Sturt are on song and Centrals don't match it, Sturt will win by 10 goals.

If Central are on song and Sturt don't match it, Central will win by 5-6 goals.

Neither side is any better or more of a favourite than the other, its a 50-50 prospect and anything less than their best will see the side duly punished. Both sides should be going into the game confident IMNSHO.

That's the way I see it too. Sturt are capable of really belting teams when they get on top while when the dogs win they seem to do just enough. The one exception this season was the ANZAC day game when we belted Glenelg.

Very interesting free kick stats in the paper this morning.

Is that picture Ben Nason or a younger Andrew Symonds with dyed hair ?

PS
Just goes to show that CD are not invincible in September ....

FWIW
Thats the 3rd time CD have not tackled a NW team in a first half of footy

Agreed. A chance at top spot and a week off with all your injuries wouldn't have come in handy at all.

Wow, that's almost a compliment!

Actually, it really is. They did what they had to do in the situation to win the game. There's a huge advantage to having the score on the board. We were forced to attack the forward 50 and in a sense it means if Norwood do manage to get it forward there should be a lot of space. That is exactly how it turned out, all because Norwood were able to beat us early and get the score on the board.

thought it was a ripper game myself, just a shame Centrals couldn't keep pace with the seventh best team in the comp.

Good luck next week though. :-j

As a contest, sure it was good because of the drama and how close it was. As a standard of footy I don't think either team will be thinking they played their best. Skills, discipline workrates were all a bit below what we're looking for.

Perhaps Norwood can find something out of this win. Personally, I don't think winning the last game of the year makes any difference if you're out of the finals. But perhaps it gives the coaching staff an indication of who can play the level and what some of the guys are really capable of.

The rd6 game at Norwood Oval
NW 17-6
CD 16-13
That was a classic game
It was awesome and somehow CD were in front when the siren went

The rd 23 game
NW 12-15
CD 11-15
The standard compared to the first round game was well down
CD looked like they were thinking of Sturt next week
NW played a few kids and won
It was a dull game somehow NW were in front when the siren went

Really if CD were tuned in they would, could, and should have won this game by plenty
NW played about 10 goals better in rd6

The doggies have had trouble with Norwood for a few years now. We have had to come from behind even when we won. That is why I had been tipping Norwood to be a force this year. I don't know why they then drop games against lower teams. Maybe a new coach will get them playing more consistantly.

I have just been informed that I was wrong to say that Norwood have dropped games against lower sides. I guess it would be more accurate to ask why Norwood can give the doggies trouble but drop games against teams lower than the doggies.

That was the way I read your first post anyway mate, and who knows ... Personally I think addressing the coaching concern that existed at the start of the season was a significant (albeit too late) step.

I think Mal was pretty accurate in his last post, the earlier Parade meeting between these two teams was of a higher standard, and probably a better quality contest.

Whether it helps any into the future remains to be seen, but IMHO it was critical for Norwood to arrest the mental hold Central have had over them - As I said this game doesn't necessarily give Norwood any edge, but another loss after leading for so long could surely have been detrimental for the Legs.

A lot of Norwood players have carried around some bad mental baggage for a long time, I think it's important the current crop of kids don't get tainted with the same scars
