Well done to Heccies for making the A grade grand final...its going to be a cracker of a match!

It's funny you say that - even though I didn't see the umpiring - some would call it over officiated and some would say that they're just picking up stuff that crappy div 6 umps dont.

Some say potato, some say potato

I like the way MOST div 6 umpires officiate during the season. They allow play to flow and not become stop start. Most umpires at the div 6 level have played the game before and have a good understanding of the game. I would hope that the umpires for next week GF don't try and "stamp there authority" on the game early. I just hope that let the game flow and pay the major free kicks. Be consistent all day and let the game take care of its self.

Also congrats to Hectorville on a fantastic win yesterday. It was one of those games that you leave as a neutral observer and feel sorry for the losing side. I thought trinity were "allright" all day but heccies just did everything right at the right time to get the win.

Any idea's as to where the GF will be played. Will be a cracke of a game.

Yeah really good. The oval is probably the best in the northern suburbs and always enjoy having a run on salisbury oval. The middle was rock hard but you expect that when its this close to the cricket season. Hopefully the Gf will be played there.

i would say the gf will be closer to BL than heccies. looking at the other gf's and its
div 2: broadview v PNU - thebarton oval
div 3: saint peters v walkerville
div 4: CBC v PAC
div 5: pultney v Westminister
div 6: heccies v BL
div 7: henley v houghton

i would say campeltown will hold either a div 3 or 4 match. PNU would maybe hold the other??? what other venues usually hold GF's?

well done to heccies yesterday. 3 finals wins on the trot. would have been easy to give upwhen we blew third spot again. just kept battling away yesterday. behind for most the match and were down 4 goals at one stage. the start to the 4th quarters would have been one of the best of our season. bad luck to trinity. big improvement from finishing 6th last year.

div 3: saint peters v walkerville - prospect oval
div 4: CBC v PAC - kilburn
div 5: pultney v Westminister - st marys
div 6: heccies v BL - sailsbury
div 7: henley v houghton - not sure

CBC v PAC at Norwood
Henley v Houghton - Kilburn, cos it's half way for both clubs

Divs 1-4 normally played at league grounds

As an on looker of sat game not being involved with either of the clubs playin i didnt think the umpiring was too bad. I can see what some people brought up bout the ego trip .. a few decisions close to where i was sitting the tone the umpire was speaking to the players was definately that of a " im in charge , talk to me and ill penalise you " type manner. But overall i thought they did a reasonable job. I guess people are bringing up the over umpiring for the fact there were frees that were paid for defenders holding off the ball / shepherding out illegally which would never been paid by minor round umpires. but the ones paid were definately there. Lets just hope that they dont play a part in the out come of saturdays game. Good luck to both sides

yeh i agree. the umps gave two 25m penalties (one to each team) for a player not moving back onto the mark when both times the players clearly didnt hear the ump and didnt know they were over the mark. the one given to heccies was in the last quarter and cost us a goal.

On another note, I must say after being told before the game today we had Div 1 umpires that I feel sorry for the boys who play up at that level each week. I thought the umpiring standard was supposed to get better as you move up the divisions???. They were nothing short of shocking today and nearly cost us the game with stupid over officiating and trying to find free kicks. Not good enough SAAFL when so much is at stake.

The Div 6 standard of most players on Saturday were reckless & simply had no idea of the rule’s. I heard one player yell out to the umpire this isn’t AFL Football mate, when a player was pin for holding the ball for falling to his knees & DRAGGING the ball in & then sitting on it without the intention of knocking it out.

If you call pushing in the back to mark the ball, protecting the head, Hanging onto an opponent to get front position, swearing over umpiring the game maybe you should request your minor round division 6 umpires because I thought the umpires you had weren’t that bad. They kept up with the play got side on to the play to see the free’s and what Footy chick said earlier was spot on.

“ It's funny you say that - even though I didn't see the umpiring - some would call it over officiated and some would say that they're just picking up stuff that crappy div 6 umps dont.”

When a umpire calls a player back & tell’s him 3 times & he still is over the mark, he knows very well where his opponent has marked it & still they choose to run over the line.

Another point HeaveHo said – (Well said)
“But overall i thought they did a reasonable job. This was my 5th game I saw of either side during the year & I would have those umpires any day over some of the guys we have had during the year. Atleast they protected the ball carrier.

Good Luck to Hectorville on Saturday considering trinity blow it on Saturday & should have won.
