I would think in terms of longevity The Stones. For impact over the last 20 years U2.For modern day influence dont pick any one, majority of 'popular' world wide music is poor, flash in the pan stuff. The likes of The Stones and U2 will be rarely seen again.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

Key words are "at the moment".

Of all those, you can't go past Coldplay.

I don't even like them (since Parachutes) but to be honest, they are everywhere and seem to be able to do no wrong.

It would have to be a toss up between Coldplay & U2 wouldn't it? I guess U2 would take the gong as they have been bigger for much longer than Coldplay.

In terms of earnings (and as strange as it sounds) you would almost toss up between U2 and the Wiggles, the Wiggles earn $$$$$hitloads, they're worth billions...

And they deserve every cent. As does any band - or any persons at all - who can make the Pseudomite sit still for half an hour without nailing her to the floor!

probably Robbie Williams, in terms of money, G-unit is racking it in, sports drinks, movies, cothes, jewlery, video games, oh yeah and music, 50 Cent alone burns around US13k per day.

Wobbie has never made it in the US despite being big just about everywhere else. Probably U2 for global popularity & longevity. REM pissed it away a long time ago. Rolling Stones are more like a circus sideshow than a fully functioning band these days.

As far as the biggest touring 'group' going around at the moment, that award currently goes to the rolling stones for their 'bigger bang' tour. Although I dont have any figures I have seen somewhere that its the highest grossing concert tour of all time, basically beating their previous records set since 1989, 1994, 1997 and 2003.
U2 are a close 2nd.
As far as the amount of people played to as far as current tours go, that would again be a toss up between the stones and U2.
Not bad considering 1 of the bands mentioned has been around since the early 60's and the other since the late 70's.
cheers to the old farts of r&r.

As a parent, I know that i have brought more Wiggles DVDs and Videos in the last three years than any other band in my entire life (including those other bands CDs & LPs)

$45 Million in 2004-05 and it grew lastyear for the Wiggles......

Regarding CK, "Will the other guy be around....."
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
