Mind-numbingly lazy, uninspired rhymes...

Plodding, derivative beats...

Perpetuating the cliched material/gangster steretype of hip-hop...

Need to expand those hip-hop horizons sam. There's infinitely better stuff out there. A lot of it in our own backyard.

i love aussie hip hop and other forms, but that dosent mean i cant also like Ganster Rap, ultimatley most of the time 50 Cent is rapping about things that have happened to him, if is the ganster stereotype then there isnt to much you can do.
personally i prefer the Underground style of Hip Hop, things like dialated peoples and people under the stairs, but gangster rap is still one of the best in my opinion.

You know, it's not even gangsta rap I hate - it's the materialistic, formulaic crap that plagues every sub-genre. And we can thank the likes of Biggie, the Neptunes and Jay-Z for that.

I'm a huge gangsta rap fan. But my preferences go back to the late 80s/early-to-mid 90s - NWA, Ice Cube, Dre, Snoop, Spice 1, Scarface, Compton's Most Wanted, MC Eiht, Geto Boys, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, Mobb Deep. I mean, BDP's first album 'Criminally Minded' was the gangsta prototype.

But anyway, I might have to clarify my earlier statement - Jay-Z embodies everything wrong about hip-hop today. The day I saw him rhyming on stage with Linkin Park, he lost me.

Linkin Park, FFS!

50 Cent last blitzed through Australia in 2003 with a sell out run of concerts. In 2006 he's returning to our shores on the back of his debut movie and soundtrack album for his Get Rich or Die Tryin' Tour.

Joining 50 Cent in Australia are his infamous clique and multi-platinum album selling G Unit.

For the Australian shows "King Of Krunk" Lil Jon & The BME Click will join the tour while Sydney trio Bliss n Eso and Melbourne lads Weapon X & Ken Hell round out the night.

All in all these concerts are going to be MASSIVE and with definitely just the one 50 Cent show only in each city tickets aren't expected to last for long. For his fans in Adelaide and Perth this will be their first taste of 50 Cent live!

Sorry, I only just found this topic.

I don't really see what bothers so many people about rap, yeah, everyone like's their own style of music, and might not always agree with other style. You've got the more new-age kids who are into their Greenday, Punk'ish style bands, and then offcourse your rap 50 Cent, Dre, Eminem.. etc. Music has changed and grown as a bigger part of our life's, and i don't see why it should always stay the same, with just Rock N Roll being on the cards, Their's people like me who like almost anything. I Listen to some "Punk" then there's a lot of "Rap/Hip Hop".

I don't mind some older music, and still respect a lot of the great's in the past music history. Of course, if there weren't bands like The Beatles, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith and of course the list goes on Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger.. no doubting there all legends of music, and there's more. Without them, it would struggle to take a place today.

All i'm saying is everyone has been brought up with a different taste and grown to like their own music, a few of the "oldies" here would be completely against rap, i understand that, they weren't brought up with it. I think most people who crush on people that like rap should listen to their own, and quit bagging on others taste, I mean just like Port supporters.. they can't help what they like :P

Anyway enough of that crapping on, I'm done :)
