Not sure Port is so much to blame here as the SANFL. They could have just said 'no'.

Port not to blame? Which other stupid organisation committed themselves to a promise they didn't know they could keep? The SANFL had their hands tied to a large extent IMHO to either make the couple arrange a new MC in a week or have Port's coach not there for the game and have it turn into a farce. Sure, I realise it seems crazy to move to accomodate 2 people but it's not their fault Port said yes. Port were bailed out of their own embarrassing mistake on this one. Perhaps the SANFL could have let Port stew in their own mess but I can't see where that would help the league. IMHO Port now owe the SANFL in a big, big way. Perhaps they can repay them by becoming a half decent club and team again.

I didn't say Port weren't to blame, I said the SANFL have the power to move the game time not Port.

Make the couple arrange a new MC? What world do you live in?
Hi, Leigh Wicker here, any chance you get Fitzy to do the MC'ing at your wedding? LMFAO.

Become a "half decent club and team again"? Just another 30 Premierships champ, just another 30.

Love it... just love it... down on your luck for one decade and people forget where you came from, Dogs are having a good decade, but so did South once.

:-)

Sorry Panther fans...

... and yeah yeah I know, Sturt's had just one top decade (and a half) too...

Lol. The day my club deems a wedding more important than a footy game then I'll readily call them a joke too. We all know the past records of all the clubs, and we all know the dogs won't win flags most years forever. Perhaps we'll never win another? But this isn't the first, and probably not the last example of the rabble Port have become. And the fact their fans are seemingly trying to defend this decision they made perhaps shows how clueless the club as a whole has become. Hopefully there are people in charge of port willing to be honest with themselves and realise the sheer stupidity and unprofessionalism of this.

Maybe they don't do the creed now, maybe they do vows instead.

"I Port Adelaide promise to be crap, in the AFL and the SANFL, and forsaking all others, faithfully remain crap, so long as both clubs shall live"?

That's really funny Barto
But really, are we all being too serious and stale here?
Does an hour out of our footy schedule **** us up that much?
Isn't this a part of what makes our comp so great?
Isn't it the closeness to club and players that we all enjoy?
Isn't it exactly that, that the AFL lacks?
Is that what we all revile against often on this forum? Sterility of the AFL?
Isn't it the ground base, die hard supporters and volunteers that keep our clubs alive, viable and running? Don't they deserve to have the odd indulgence?
Can't we make way for that?

I say good luck to the happy and strange couple and may your marriage do better than your footy teams at present!
:goodman: :partyman: :drinkers: =D>
Never, ever did I think I'd come out with that for weird arse port supporters. ^#(^

Next time I'm over for a game, if the flight's late I'll ask if we can start the game a bit later.

It's a bizarre situation and Wedgie is right that it exposes the league to futher degradation. Changing bounce down for this reason isn't congruous with the term "semi-professional". I'm not sure where the next line in the sand is going to be drawn.

Perhaps Dom Casissi can tell us.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Sooky-sooky la-la!

Hate to think what you all would've had to say if our proposal to move a whole round midweek (with SANFL blessing) to accommodate the Buck's Party had gone ahead.

But it didn't. We put the integrity of the comp first. Shame on you all.

And FWIW, the real reason we're not playing finals footy is because Timmy G is chaperoning the lovely couple on their honeymoon...

That'd be fair enough as Bucks parties are important as long as there's lots of titties and booze involved.

Eight years ago we had our wedding reception in the Bradman room at Adelaide Oval during cricket season. We chose a date with no cricket commitments based on the program where no games were scheduled. Even then we were told that if there were late program changes we could be moved and that the oval itself could be off limits (we wanted some photos on the oval).

Buyer beware I say you book a sporting oval facility for a weekend when games could be played you need to be prepared to make last minute changes to you plans as the SANFL fixture clearly states that it could be changed especially Rd 23.
