RD 23 Port v Sturt - Change in match time

Postby CK » Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:29 pm

The SANFL has advised today that the Port v Sturt match will now commence at 1.15pm on Saturday, not 2.00pm. The Reserves will now start at 10.30am.

Yep. Completely bizarre. No reason given although there must be one.
Not sure the SANFL is considering their very loyal supporter base by shifting three of the games to a Saturday at a week's notice when there was no real need to do it.
I'd be spewing if they'd moved the Bays' game.

Word on the radio is Tim Ginever was organised to be MC at a wedding and there was the potential for a clash with the game once it was moved. First of all, I think it was very naive of Tim to commit to the saturday like that. We all know round 23 games are always a big chance of being moved depending on AFL finals and that's just a very silly decision on his behalf IMHO. Assuming the magpies were aware of that (surely he spoke to them about it at some stage) they also made a very poor decision to say it was ok. Good on the SANFL for bailing both Tim and the magpies out and doing the right thing by the couple given the scenario they were placed in.

The players don't listen to him anyway so if he bolted early would it really matter? :-k

WTF!

I assumed that the "wedding" was upstairs in the Port Club, so the game was moved forward to allow more time to set the room up....

To change the game time to suit one person is ridiculous....

Lucky it wasn't Unley as they would have had to cancel the match instead.

And we are all invited.

What to get them?
What happened to those 100 wooden spoons someone was talking about?

Not sure going to the footy in my Dinner Suit (black and white) will create the right impression, however.

Hope Timmy doesn't give them the 3/4 time address instead of the Wedding script.

Agreed. A complete and utter joke. Bad enough it was moved to Saturday. Even more annoying its at that time... what is the problem with having the game on Sunday as planned I ask you?

... fixturing in the SANFL is becoming more and more like the abortion we're dealt in the AFL.

The magpies will do anything to earn a buck these days. Will most probably supply the tears for the ceremony.

from what i heard on AA was that he was asked to be MC and I think the family of the wedding have done alot for the club or something like that.

I bet they've done nothing for Blackwood though.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Please oh pleaase tell me this is a joke.
I might ring up the SANFL and get them to move back the North game as I planned to wash my hair Saturday lunchtime.
Just when you think the SANFL couldn't look more unprofessional and it delivers yet again.
Might as well as get the AFL to take us over as at least there'd be a bit of professionalism about the place.
Kids school footy is run better.
