WoW certainly not flogged on Saturday but had a solid session!

That i know of none of the boys were 'crook'. I know there were a few still sore from Thursday nights training so i have a feeling this week will be short and sharp on the track to freshen up for the trip to tigerland.

How hard is it for the league to swap this weekends venues so no side is advantaged with a home final like Strath this Sunday? Common sense should prevail and the swap easily made!

Agreed VJ,
Huge disadvantage for Compass (A side that finished higher than Strath after the minor rounds)
It was stated yesterday on 90.1 that it was a adecision made by all delegates not to change the allocated venues, regardless of home ground advantage.

Where would it be changed to? How would that club go about getting volunteers organised within a week (especially those in wind down mode)? Food and drink orders? What do Strath do with food / drink ordered in anticipation of hosting that final? Its a lot easier to name the venues and stick to them.

Correct.. this was a decision made at a GSFL delegates meeting about a month ago. I believe it had something to do with the difficulty involved with moving a finals venue with just a week's notice (catering, volunteers, etc). I can sort of see both sides to it. The finals venues were decided years ago so every club's got as much chance as another of playing on their home deck but when you look at individual situations such as this Saturday it makes you wonder.

Swap Strath and Yank over. Surely when Compass beat Strath 3 weekends ago they knew the best possible result for Strath was a 1st Semi Final which was always scheduled for this Sunday. A simple swap would have been easy and plenty of notice for clubs and the catering wouldnt have been affected.

In saying that whats done is done, we knew this to be the scenario and theres no changing it but I'd be a little annoyed if i were from Compass and as D&W said copped Strath at home after finishing above them. Play on!

All valid points, but as BJ said, you would think it's relatively easy to swap the venues over this weekend, strath games to yank and vice versa. But as delegates voted for no changes, knowone can really argue the point.

Grant Levy.
Thought he was one of the best for VH on a rather dismal day, held his spot weell & his used his experience well, kicked a couple of goals and did pretty well whenever the ball got down to him.

surely the vhfc would've got more out of a kid playing that final than playing him.

IMO levy is own of victors most important players. he commands the respect of the people playing on him as you give him half a sniff and he will hurt you with right or left foot. he only needs 5-10 touches to set up a couple of goals and kick a couple himself. having him in the side is like having an on field coach, they way he talks to young blokes like Basham and co is priceless. while he is still wanting to play a grade you have to pick him. the bloke may be older than most and heavier than most but he is still averaging a couple of goals every week which is more than plenty of other forward pockets in the comp. he has to be the 3rd bloke picked behind hodge and ellis. hands down. the man is a star. on and off the field

Yes A Mum I heard this from my son who goes to Willunga High that they all shaved their heads after their Saturday Morning training session, also heard that 3 or 4 spoilsports don't want to (or girlfriends refuse it) and may impact their selections this Thursday Night!!

Speaking of the Senior Colts Pongy and Compass is going to be a cracker this week always a good rivalry there although I've heard from the young 'uns at school that there's a few injuries from both camps going into this week, definetely the most intriguing finals series at the moment is the senior colts.

I am surprised that no-one has made comment of how Victor has gone from Strawberries to Horse manure, and is out of the finals.
After round Four where they really gave Willunga a fright I would have thought those two teams were the Grand Finalists. They had recruited well with the 2 Ellis Boys, Joras, and Pitman....2 good forwards, Another gun midfielder to go with Hodgy in Luke Ellis and Joras a real utility, who can play anywhere.

Langhornes Creek are not at full strength, and apart from their last two games against Willunga and McLaren where they were not near full intensity, their form has been very good. Did they just cruise through the last 2 weeks? If they did.....do not underestimate them.

This weekends game will be very interesting. Did the Creek learn anything from their final round belting? We will find out. I don't know about cruising, but I do think there's another gear there. Sometimes they have trouble finding it though.

Will the Creeks play with their full side? Is Feast playing? Is McLeod injured? Is Moore Injured? What has happened to Murgatroyd and R.Follet? Both times we played Creeks this year they were a vastly different outfit. At full tilt they are a big chance, otherwise the result will be similar to the round 18 match

I think Yettis trying to spice it up a bit.

Theres plenty riding on it already. The creeks are a very tough proposition and theyve shown throughout the year they are as good as if not better than any other side!

Big margins happen in footy, this weekends game wont be like Rd 18 with a GF on the line both sides will be throwing everything at it!

Not sure about reasons behind Victors second half of the year, but i think/know Langhornes, Strath and Compass all had relatively slow starts to the year and definately lifted the standard of footy when they got going. On any sides day, there really wasn't too much between the top 7 sides this year, i just think the top 4 were a lot more consistant. Injuries played a part and always will, but the 4 sides left are the 4 most deserving and have been the best four sides for the majority of the year.
