Whoops missed Motlop (that's how effective he has been for them and us!). I think Thompson only played pre-season games as he definately played for us in our Round 2 opening game against Centrals so I don't think he played a home and away AFL game?

Thompson has definately played a game for the Power this year it may have been two.

Hmm having a poor Monday with my "memory" . You are 100 percent correct - played 2 games H&A.

It's understandable that you forgot about them though. They've both done basically nothing at Port or North. Surely back to the twos for Marlon this week.

Marlon Motlop - don't get me started on him FFS! Why should we punish the two's with him and Thompson playing back down there together which will mean two other players having to work twice as hard to cover their laziness and defensive inabilities!

He should go stright back to the Power - they deserve him as they are partly responsible for how he plays now (ditto for poor old Wade!)

Whilst not privy to the scans a positive for Brodie is that given the relative structural integrity of the joint he was able to keep playing and the only real sign was the swelling - it augars well for a successfull recovery.

If there is no associated MCL or menisci damage he should recover well - unlike the trainwreck of Hentschells knee.

HAving said all that he will be a big loss for Sturt in the finals.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

So according to todays paper Toby Thurstuns has pulled out of Sturts finals campaign and I havent heard why Tommy Logan did suit for the Bays yesterday - are Port putting all their players on ice?

I hope so that tends to suit Central i think, the only real players we have qualified from Port are M.Westoff and J.Giles who you would think would be left to play finals as the experience will do them great and they are not in Ports best 22-25 anyway.

A back injury I beleive... In Fact Danny Meyer and Richard Douglas may be the only ones Glenelg sees in the finals series.

From the tone of Stormin' Norman's comments in the paper today it seens Port had nothing to do with Thurstans not playing, it was his decision alone.

The AFL clubs seem to be getting tougher each year on which players they release and I'd expect that it will continue this year. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Power pulled* all their players out of SANFL finals.

And why wouldn't they? Those AFL listed players are employed by them, not the SANFL clubs.

If there is a good relationship between the AFL and SANFL clubs concerned, then they will work it out. If Port or Adelaide do not wish for an AFL listed player on their list to play SANFL finals that is their right.

On the flip side, the SANFL clubs can quite legitimately select the best 21 players who want to play for their club in the finals. If an AFL listed player or his club are not keen to play SANFL finals it's an easy decision, the SANFL club selects a player who will be committed to the club instead.

So, for example at the Bays, Steven Salopek needs a shoulder operation and Port's season is over, fine, he has the op regardless if the Bays have upcoming finals matches. The Bays will play one of their own who has lived and breathed being a Tiger all year and will be itching to represent his club, problem solved.

I personally don't care if the Bays play 5 AFL listed players or none, as long as the best available and committed 21 players are selected to represent the club in the finals.

In a number of cases it would be to protect their trade value or in someone like Salopeks case to get him under the knife asap and ready for 2010.

Interesting what is happening with AFL players pulling out of SANFL finals.

Maybe we need an upper limit as well so that if a potential player has played more than half an AFL season (ie 11 games) then he becomes ineligible.
We used to be good :-(
