For those that came in late, I hate the Hawks with a passion but you've got to feel sorry for Hawthorn ruckman Max Bailey who did his knee for about the third time in three years. The poor bastard only got back into the side last week and to me he looked like a pretty good ruckman if he can get some footy into him but he had the cruellest luck of all going down early in the match today against Essendon. If there is a player out there with worse luck than Bailey I don't want to meet the poor bloke.

Yes, very disappointing for the young man, and als o dreadfully disappointing for the Hawks. They've placed great stock in his ability and we've all been waiting for him to show what he can do. Its not looking good for the kid's future in footy.

yep, poor ol' Tex!

i hate seeing stories like this, as i posted in the "hentschel" thread in the crows nest. i dont know his full background of footy, but i'd assume he is like most of the current AFL players, he probably trained at least 3 times a week from the age of 13, possibly with a heap of travel, only to have his body let him down when he finally made it.

Well said REB and brod- I too have keenly awaited his arrival on the big stage, I remember when he was new on the scene he touched up Spida in an internal trial at about 18 years old.

Tragic for him, the scenes in the changerooms with him on crutches with the family were pretty shattering.

Similar fate to Ryan Fitzgerald this poor bloke. His body just hasn't given him a chance to display his ability and it looks more likely it never will give him the chance. Some blokes just don't get any luck with injuries.

I believe it was his "good" knee that he injured yesterday as well.

yep. it was. 2 recons on the right, and now 1 to come on the left. not a great thing for any player, probably more so a ruckman.

now wont play until 2011. anyone know when he is contracted to? hopefully at least till the end of 2011 so he might have a season to prove himself after he gets back. if he is only contracted till the end of 2010, he could be in a bit of trouble.

He is out of contract at the end of this season.

wow. what will the hawks do? big risk if they re-sign him. would love to see the hawks show a little faith and keep him on board, but footy being the business it is, he may be looking for a job soon. poor bugger.
