Yep, totally agree. That decision make a total mockery of "goal and mark of the year" awards.

Agree, he kneed that poor Carlton bloke in the head, and he had other options, such as staying down and getting the crumbs. But probably at the lower end of seriousness, so just one week. ;)

FWIW, the best this year, and one of the best ever, but not as good as the one Tarrant took against Melbourne a few years ago - the Melbourne bloke was right up him* and just as high going for the spoil.

By the way, the Inkster* mark was better than all others mentioned in this thread.

funniest thing i've read all day!

my 2 cents....

was a great mark, but i'm more a fan of the couragous type mark. so my favourite mark of all time is nick riewoldts running back with the flight a couple years ago. (made even sweeter by the fact he kicked steven milne in the head!)

for anyone that cant remember it (or hasnt seen it), here is riewoldt mark from a couple years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJGeSRJ5MMQ

note at around the 10 or 11 second mark where riewoldt is in the foreground when harvey kicks it.

and i know this has nothing to do with the mark, but also note that it's harvey that kicked it, then keeps running to get the handball off of st.nick and drills home a long goal!

Burton's mark will win Mark of the Year.

So it should. No player will get higher than that this year, on the back of K. Tippett's head!!

Deserved winner, by a country mile. An absolute STRETCH better than Tom Logan's small ride in the small of Luke Hodge's back.

true but Heath Grundys was on a ruckmen (can't think whose head) and he didn't require a lift from a pack to do so either.

I remember the grab, think it may have been against the Power, but up Darren Jolly.

But yeah, not quite the same amount of hype surrounding that one. Not sure why, still think Burton's was better purely for hangtime in the air.

There have been many incredible marks over the years. All as good as each other in the scheme of the game.
However this year Burton's mark should surely be the stand out.

Jolly and Tippett are the same height. Burton didn't need the extra lift but he got it and it made it look better.

I don't like Burton but that was easily the best mark I've seen in over a decade.
Sean Smiths, Modras and Abletts are those that compare mind you I don't think Ablett marked his.
Best ever mark I saw was Grenville Dietrich in 1984 against Port at Footy Park. Antrobus's effort against Central at Adelaide Oval was good too.

Clark's from the Lions would win mark of the year some years, yet couldn't even get mark of the day. Picked the wrong night to do it.

Burton actually jumped clear over Bret Thornton to get on to Tippett's shoulder - it's an amazing spring, no ride.

Shaun Smith's is still my all time favourite, but a special mention to Bill Ryan for Geelong v Richmond in the 1968 1st Semi Final - an absolute monster pic that I would like to see film of.
