No doubt this has been done before, but getting to the checkout every single bloody time and only then realizing I've forgotten my trusty Green Shopping bag (read: Dust Catcher).

If I give someone a lift and they get chucked in the back that's it...

There are biodegradable plastic bags and paper bags that could be offered.

I do the same ... have 15 of the bastards (and the number is growing) and never, ever have had to use more than 4 at once.

Ther whole ban disposable plastic bags thing was presumably engineered by the retailers so they could charge us for things they used to give away.
Otherwise they would now be offering free biodegradable bags or paper ones.
Interestingly, the green bags they now sell are probably polypropyline and likely to be more polluting to produce and to persist in the environment longer than the old ones...

It has its analogy in telephone use.
Our federal governments refused to permit telcos to introduce timed local calls as it may have had a political backlash.
However, they have been permitted to jack up line fees and push us towards mobile use, which comes with timed local calls...
