Woodville Oval Upgrade

Postby centrecirclelegend » Tue Aug 25, 2009 3:06 pm

I bet the other clubs would love to have these planned facilities.........from our CEO in an email to members......sounds great!

In short, the proposal is for a three stages process;

Stage 1

Refurbishment of the existing offices and amenities, create space for a gymnasium on the ground floor and a revamp of the bar & associated outdoor deck area on the first floor.

Importantly, this includes lift and disabled access to the upstairs area.

Stage 2

Addition of a Pool facility with associated amenities.

Stage 3

Addition to southern end of gymnasium to incorporate change room, warm up area, medical room and meeting room at ground floor, and function room addition and associated outdoor deck area at first floor.

This is great news and is what many at the Club have been after for a long, long time.

Seems like there are people that listen! Well done CD, I couldn't be happier with how our Club is traveling at the moment. Micky you have a direct line to the CEO, please let him know how happy we are with the work he is doing.

When Central installed their training pool I thought it wouldnet be long before it became a requirement for all SANFL sides to have one on their premises, with the Eagles now moving in that direction I wouldent be surprised if others begin to follow suite fairly quickly. Good training facilities are one way to win recruits to the club and you dont want to be the side with the worst facilities in such a competitive enviroment!

Bays have these plan but have competed Stage 1, revamp of Club facilities and for stage 2 and 3 substitute a pool for lights.

No need for a pool with Marion pool about to upgraded and also access to Westminster and Immanuel College pools.

However those plans look good. So well done to WWT if they can get them up*
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I thought they might have put in some Stalag 13 type guard towers. Electrify the fences.

Not even remotely the same as having a pool on your own site that the club has full exclusivity to. WWT will be able to go straight into the recovery pool after a home match as is done with the AFL system, it is a huge step forward for their club and in terms of making every post a winner it will clearly give them an advantage.

Prior to the upgrades going on there now, Central's had the Elizabeth Aquadome about 500m up the road from them but they still chose to build their own rehab pool on site. Totally agree with your points on this Sojourner...

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

That would be next on the list of things to do for the club, it would be up to the council.

While there is lighting infrastructure at Thebarton Oval I don't think there will be an upgrade of lighting at Woodville Oval to play night football. Also, with so many houses within close proximity I don't think approval will be given.
