DC..... I am not going to go stupid on a bet $8 that should be $4 (and you cant lay off).... but I will go stupid on a bet that I can lay off on and make $$$ risk free (Collingwood +23.5 pts)..... as you can see with my Patillo bet he was $8 and overs but he was still a 1 in 4 chance of winning.... I have had $200 on it and he is not looking that good but my other bet $200 on Simmons at $6.50 is well and truly alive.

If you think I am ever going to put four figures on a JC just beacuse it is $8 and should be $4 then you can think again...... I am smarter than that....BIG difference when you cant lose (laying off to gaurentee profit) to still taking a 4 in 1 chance.

My biggest bet in a JC has been $200-$300 ish

Anyone else care to comment on my thoughts?

I will gladly take overs with my smaller bets and I will spank big bets where I can lay off and not lose. Is that not the way to go?

I am not going to get greedy and try and spank everything that is overs just coz my account is looking healthy... patience got me here and I will continue to the system I am doing....

This is the perfect mindset and why you have been a decent winner over the last few weeks (possibly longer but I've not been around that long). Upping your bets outside of your ruleset is one way to lose your roll very quickly and bad bankroll management.

i dont see why just becuase you made ALOT of money on one bet... you have to put it all on another bet you thinks is good odds...

the collingwood bet was a sure thing.... pattillo or simmons was not... hence why ya wouldnt put $2grand on it..

200 is still a hell of a lot of money on a single bet that you not assured to win.

i still dont see why becuase he won a lot of money he has to bet it all today??

Fully agree with your comments Grub but things like JC's are high variance types of bets, when your hot your hot when your not your not.

Since you have been running hot i would not have thought of a better time to press up and if you miss just head back to your 100 dollar bets, again this is just my opinion/thoughts but you seem convinced you can win long term on these markets so even if it is a miss you will get it back in the long term right.....

I am just saying what I would have done in your position.

My $0.02 worth, if you're comfortable with your betting practices and balances, I don't think you need to justify yourself or your methods.

Grub's method of punting is proven. He knows it inside and out, knows where to look, knows when to invest a bit more, knows when to back off. This market is an easy target for guys of Grub's astute calibre. So much money goes onto the everyday, losing punter's favourite jock without doing the research.
The faves start too short most of the time and there is a grey area in the market where if you can predict an upset or two, you can find the value, and reap the rewards. As Grub has shown over the past few weeks.
