Surely everyone would be saying that we would have won if Hughes was in the side.

We lost this series on Day 5 of the 1st Test.. That is all

Disappointing, but it should never have come down to this test. We should have won the first test and been 2-1 up.

The next question is how do I get through this week without coming into contact with an English person?

Batting collapses at Lords and Oval, and not getting that last wicket in Cardiff cost the series.
Mitchell Johnson's early form certainly didn't help!

Quote from an article today:

"The defeat also means Australia slip from No.1 in the world to No.4 behind South Africa, Sri Lanka and India."

So number 4 hey. Behind South Africa - Yes, Behind India - Yes, Behind Sri Lanka - ? I would say were are probably 3rd at the moment. Anyway we have a soft series against the West Indinies 2nd XI to get some for back.

It's pretty bad when we lose a series when we won at least 70% of the sessions. When we were bad we were shocking, letting tailenders slap us around, bowling part-timers to new batsmen and struggling to be consistent with the bat all were contributing factors.

had 6 of the top 7 runscores and the top 3 wicket takers in the series yet we lose!, we let their tail score too many, saturday a perfect example, what was with the pitch saturday? 15/243!, needed to have the poms out for under 300 couldnt do it. End of match end of ashes, end of no.1 rankning. coulda got $1.33 on the poms last night after the first over, wish i had had the balls to plonk on them

What lost it? Losing 10/87 in the first innings of the 5th Test when the Ashes were on the line was the most feeble effort I can recall from any Australian team in any sport. Just pathetic.

Other contributing factors:
1. Mitchell Johnson's inability to hit the mowed part of the wicket in the first two Tests.
2. Ricky Ponting's continual lame efforts to captain the team. Great player but when it comes to captaincy skills he has NFI. Losing 4 tosses didn't help either.
3. RUDI!!! - England's secret weapon. More devasating than any spell of bowling Dennis Lillee could muster.

What will annoy the crap out of me is we will probably win the meaningless one-day series and come home thinking we are winners.

I don't think so AH. I don't reckon we'll win the one dayers. And two - I'm pretty sure the players have enough smarts to know that the Ashes are the only thing that matter during an England tour.

I'm still coming to terms with this loss.

There were almost tears from me yesterday and now today I have to put up with lots of English people at work. People that wouldn't know a cricket ball from a football. Today is going to hurt.
