A terrific effort by all today to have such a successful last home game in season 2009.

The kids had plenty to do with the face painting, jumping castle, showbags (missed out didnt get a donut!) The $1000 Centro Arndale kick for goal being won. The kids parade with all the flags (thanks to the Westies cheer squad joining in with their flags too) looked great. The free fantastic brand noodle bar give away promotion and a very good crowd over over 2350 for an Eagles v Westies game.

Good atmosphere in the club after the game and was great to have Barry Jarman as a guest at lunch today.

Congratulations to all who managed the 3 games especially all the helpers /volunteers & officials for both teams.

Players MVP for us was a tie with Mathew Broadbent and Luke Jarrad.

Special mention to Phil H for all his work today.

Before I forget, the Eagles u18s signed a jumper (eagles one of course) for Brodee Brown who is the player who was injured in a car last weekend and is in the RAH.

Long Day...Good Results..Can't Complain really. ;)

Great to see so many kids on the ground before the start of the league match, the Fulham North kids especially were in good voice., well done to PhilH and everyone at the club for organising it.

Good result for the reserves boys today, amazing the difference some returning league players can have on a match, hard to believe that there were only about 3 wins between the 2 teams before today.

League game probably one of those that may have been won by winning the toss, but the good 3rd Qtr and first 5 mins of the last certainaly didnt hurt either, some great long goals today to go with some otherwise scrappy play and confusing umpiring yet again.
Trust the process.

Good to meet you today, Columbo.

Well done to the Eagles on 3 wins.

Just for the record, The Eagles have a very experienced and talented Reserves side, while West played 9 of their Under 18's in the Reserves today. That also affected the Under 18's, who also played one Under 15 player (who played well).

I think your point about the toss is vaild and although it didn't affect the result, the umpiring standard was poor. Clear marks not being paid, a mark (and consequent goal) being paid for a kick that went no more than 8 metres, etc, etc....

I'll give a match summary tomorrow.

Spot on, Thiele. Whoever at the league made that decision should have been made to be at the ground at 7am.

JUST FOR THE RECORD??? The Eagles had 8 U/18 players in their Reserves team and 2 U/18 players in their League team.

Not to mention that the Eagles had 7 teenagers in their League Team compared with West's 5.............

Excuses. I thought Andy Collins had brought in a no excuse policy down at Richmond??

I don't agree with "redandblack" that the Eagles had a very experienced reserves team today. Treeby, Powell and P. Fiacchi were the only established league players in the Team. Would have been at least 12 teenagers in the team.

Ron Fuller made special mention at after match presentations that the reserves players were in an extremely good condition at presentation time for a match finishing at 11.00 am. He said it wouldn't have happened in his playing career.

What was the point of your reply to redden whites???

Maybe you spend some time researching fact after your post about how much experience the Eagles had in the Ressies as you have been shot to bits on that arguement but that not the first time on this site you have posted baseless rubbish is it?

Thanks for your usual good-natured, considered reply, drebin.

I wasn't making excuses - it wasn't possible. Our Reserves team was smashed by a very good side. That's why I wrote, 'just for the record', in reply to Columbo's valid point wondering why there was only 3 wins between the sides on the ladder. My post was clearly a friendly reply to him and didn't compare our teams to the Eagles sides in any way.

However, as for the Eagles side being experienced and talented, I would have thought that a line up including Luke Powell and Treeby might be considered useful. I would say there were a few League Premiership players in the team and I would say a vast majority would have played league football, some of them reasonably experienced players. As I said, I'll go through the list and let others judge, but that wasn't the point anyway.

I also started by congratulating the Eagles on 3 good wins, but you must have missed that bit.

As for Andy Collins and excuses, I didn't see his name anywhere on my post and I didn't see any excuses.

On redden whites post, I was only agreeing with him. Sorry if it was pointless to you, but at least it gave you an opportunity to vent some more spleen. Never mind, we all get used to it.

Have a good day.

And one of the Eagles under 18's in the league is still 16 and doesnt turn 17 until October.
West missed the likes of Cupido etc eagles missed treeby powell and fiachhi .so it probably evened out the league .
Seconds both had under 18's playing but west seemed to go to water very quickly. Many handball sideways then kick sideways then kick to the fifty to a waiting Eagles player.Never seen a side that flooded into the forward line of the other team that was going against the wind.the wind was only a 4goal breeze at that stage . ;)

R&B using the words very experienced was mis-guided. More experienced was probably the correct term.

F Fitzgerald Heinjus Fairclough
HF Rowntree Staple Graham
C Sumner Powell Batley
HB McMahon Hill? P Fiacchi
B Edwards McEntee Papps
Ruck Redden Banner Hicks
Int D Polec Culley Brusnahan
Appleton Treeby

3 league premiership players. approx 12 players who have played league football.

FF Jennings Westhoff Silverlock
HF Langford Knial Luders
C Ward Rowe Keough
HB Laurie Fisher Birss
FB Boundy Brown Scott

1st Ruck Heintz Sukkel Shearer

I/C Ribbons ANderson

This side has 7 players who have played league footy.

To me that is a Eagles side with more experience, even if that experience may not be huge. So is R&B still wrong about the eagles having a more experienced side in the magoo's Drebin?

Also having a crack at R&B for taking a cheap shot that is just laughable coming from you Drebin.

Well if he is going to post something that turned out to be so far off the mark (which is was regardless of how you intepret it being worded) then he has to expect comment but he was the one who took the first cheap shot so I replied in kind.
