Once again Sturt proved they are one dimensional and unless Chambers kicks AT LEAST 4 goals they will not beat the top 2 sides. Their one injury away from been also rans.

I think Norman's comment was more they are the best team in the comp when they have the ball in their hands.

well most teams can say that......but the best team in the comp is the team who are the best at getting the ball when they dont have it and thats centrals

Even contest in the first half although there were signs in the last 10 mins in the 2nd that the Bays were starting to gain some momentum.

The 2nd half the Bays were much harder at the ball, worked and ran. Sturt have some real problems in this area and have not learned anything from the past few clashes with the Bays.

The final score was flattering to Sturt and could have blown out to 7-10 goals if the Bays didn't miss easy shot under little pressure.

While good to continue the winning run, the entries into and the system in the forward lines is a real concern ... can't expect to continue to burn the ball up forward and keep winning.

Still have to play well to earn a week's break in the finals, and the Eagles (in particular) and West will not be easy games in the final 2 rounds.

I feel Sturt, while such a damaging side when they're on song, have some work to do before the finals. They can atone with a win against the Doggies Saturday night but a loss will possibly mess a bit with their heads. Certainly not writing them off at all (and no-one can afford to do that) but they need to address the attack on the hard ball IMHO.

Always good to be back at Unley ... I still think it's one of the best grounds to watch footy, despite the fickle attempts by the Council to not appreciate what Sturt Football Club bring to the area. Great crowd today, interesting to hear what the final number was.

And finally, FFS Unley Council, the roads are there for all to use, so will you please piss off your ridiculous 40Km speed limits and blocked roads!
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

There's no doubt this was a disappointing result for Sturt fans. Once again the club has had a near perfect build up to a huge match against the Tigers and once again we've fallen well short and been soundly defeated. There's going to be a lot of rubbish written by Tigers fans about Chambers being no good. We know that's short sighted, if the ball isn't delivered into the forward 50 with any consistency or accuracy then Chambers won't even have a contest he can compete in from which to score.

This was another match where the Tigers thwarted our entries into the forward 50. The first half was a real arm wrestle whereby neither side was really able to get a run on. At one point Sturt led 5.3 to 2.4 and then the Tigers slammed on 7.7 to 0.1 for the remainder of the second term through to early in the last, that pretty much summed up where the game was won. Glenelg was able to break free from the tight contest that had ensued until then and get away from Sturt.

When you look at the scoreboard, 9.16 to 7.4 shows a comfortable win and a win that could have been far more convincing had the Tigers put through some of the easy shots or snaps that they missed.

For Sturt, I think its once again back to the drawing board. The club can take heart from the fact that 4 successive defeats to Centrals didn't hurt come grand final day, but there's no doubt Glenelg's method needs to be unlocked.

... for what its worth, I don't agree with the Jeckyl and Hyde analogy mentioned by another poster, Sturt simply has issues with Glenelg's game plan, much like West does with Sturt for example. The team isn't playing brilliantly one week and poorly the next, they're stringing together whopping victories against teams below them but then getting smacked down by Glenelg. That's the second time this year that a run of great wins has been ended by Glenelg.

Centrals have little to say at this stage, as they've only met us once and we thumped them that day. What happens next week means a bit, but what happens in a few weeks time is more important.

For Glenelg its the same, its a great win, it keeps the hoodoo going and all that, but they too won't want to hold onto this win thinking its all done, look at least year, a great season (yet again) ending with a grand final defeat (yet again).

The key for Sturt and Glenelg is to turn the tables on Centrals and each other in the finals... winning now is good, kudos and bragging rights to them of course, but the big game is more than a month away...

For Sturt, well not good enough again, maybe we are the 2nd or 3rd best side in the league, maybe that's just it...

As I posted after the Glenelg v Centrals game, Glenelg won a battle today but the war (finals) continues (well the battle v Dogs eneded in a stalemate :D) . Glenelg could well play Sturt another two times before this year is out. However I look forward to playing Sturt with Grima, Fisher, Holmes and at least one of our AFL blokes. Mind you Sturt will have Thurstans, McLeay and possibly Reilly (if he's released by the Crows - like a couple of ours he could be held back for post-season trades or surgery). Not saying he will or that ours will, but the reality is both teams could be lookng at fringe players during the trade period.

So roll on September
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

i agree wholeheartedly, but i believe we are a better chance of beating centrals then sturt is

but centrals still are the team to beat and as far as i can see they should be winning the GF by a min 6 goals if they play us, and possibly closer to 10 goals if its anyone else.
