I agree especially as our "alternative" jumper is a disgrace. If we have to have one thne make it a reverse of the home jumper FFS!

The SANFL would have known North was going to wear the white jumper but they are so dumb and insular to have the umpires wear something that didn't clash. Maybe Whicker and the rest of the chardonnay "puppets" were waiting for AFL permission to change the umpires tops???

It never ceases to amaze me how administrators of our game continue to struggle with the simple concept of alternate strips. Solution: COMMON SENSE. I wonder how these people are able to cross the street without getting run over!

Mind you the umpires should have worn brown on Friday night the colour of shit as that is how they umpired! They were a disgrace and to complain about them after a 10 goal win says something.

I'm used to it. They've been garbage all season. Maybe next year they'll decide to watch the game, and only pay free kicks they see .. not the ones they have imagined, or "interpreted" from existing rules.

Could be worse ....... wire them up like the AFL and they can really be bigger than the game.

I am not anti-umpire because you have to have a ref of some kind. But they seem to be more concern about what they are saying and a self belief in their image rather than the decisions they should be making.

A good Ump should not stand out, and be in the back ground. Soccer and Rugby refs are heard but not noticed.

CONCERNED: Jarrod Cotton said his side's performance
against North was the worst since he took over

NORWOOD coach Jarrod Cotton says several of his players will be fighting for their SANFL careers in the Redlegs’ final minor round game against Central District in a fortnight.

After watching his side’s dismal 18.12 (120) to 8.10 (58) defeat to North Adelaide at the Parade on Friday night, Cotton sounded a warning to his under-performing players.

``Whether it’s me or someone else (coaching) next year, there will be people looking at the game (against Central) and making a few judgement calls,’’ he said.

``There will be a few blokes who will need to put their hand up if they want to stay at the club next year.’’

Cotton described the North loss as the Redlegs’ worst performance since he took over from Trevor Hill in Round 15.

``Worst one by a long way. It wasn’t so much the scoreboard but the application and the effort to be honest with you.’’

``Since I’ve been here, even the first game North Adelaide again beat us pretty easily that day but at least they (the players) had a real honest effort.

``Tonight there was too many blokes that just didn’t look like they were interested.’’

Cotton said the club needed to add at least two quality on-ballers if it was to return to finals action next season.

``I think our midfield is a hard-working midfield but we don’t have any players that really get high possessions.

``As a midfield group you look at (North duo Rhys) Archard and (James) Allan and these sorts of players we need to get at least one of those (who) can actually get around and cover the ground quickly and get some possessions in the back half and also work hard the other way.

``That’s what I’ll be targeting if I’m here. But also a key forward as well because you can’t rely on Taylor Walker being here.’’

Norwood, which has the bye this weekend, plays its final minor round game against the Bulldogs at The Parade on Sunday, September 6.

NORTH Adelaide enters this weekend’s crunch match with West Adelaide with renewed confidence after an improved performance against Norwood last Friday night.

Needing a win against the Bloods to wrap up fifth spot on the ladder, the Roosters will look to continue the form which saw them dismantle the Redlegs 18.12 (120) to 8.10 (58) at the Parade.

North coach Daniel Healy said he was his pleased with his side’s endeavour in the victory, which ended a four-game losing streak.

``It’s good to be back playing a brand of footy that looks like it’s exciting and enjoyable and the players look like they’re enjoying it,’’ he said.

``People have a crack at us about playing too defensive, that’s (Friday’s performance) what we mean by defensive footy. Getting the ball back and then being able to score from it. ``What you saw there was how we want to play the game and we’ve been a fair way off it for a lot of the year.’’

While midfield trio James Allan, Rhys Archard and Matthew Wright were their usual dominant selves, the most pleasing performances came from youngsters Damian Cunningham and Daniel Stewart.

Cunningham kept Adelaide Crows forward Taylor Walker goal-less in the first half winning several one-on-one contests.

``He (Cunningham) is an outstanding character and he’s done that twice to Walker this year. He’s going to have a long career at the club and we’re rapt to have him,’’ Healy said.

Stewart was the most threatening forward on the ground all night kicking four goals.

Healy said the 199cm Port Adelaide Power rookie’s potential was limitless.

``He’s a classic. When he comes out with an attitude that he’s just going to have a crack he’s certainly good enough to play very well at SANFL level and who knows at the next level.

``It’s just that belief factor and hopefully tonight’s going to push him towards that.’’

As for Saturday’s clash at City Mazda Stadium, Healy said his side was more concerned about continuing its own form than ending West’s season.

``We’re probably just more worried about playing a brand of footy that shows improvement and that gives us some impetus that if we do make the finals, we’re not just making up the numbers.

``I’m just pleased to get the group turned around because it’s been a pretty down couple of weeks.’’
