The ball goes for 4 Leg Byes
STUPID F....G RULE
For starters its Head Byes
Secondly how can EG get 4 runs for that
SIDDLE made Trott look bad and AU gets punished 4 runs

This part of the leg bye law must be changed

The law states that leg byes can only be awarded when a player is attempting a stroke or attempting to leave the ball. Trott was doing neither. He simply didn't see it and for his team to be given 4 is just stupid. The part where trying to leave a ball is considered a stroke should be scrapped as you say mal.

Agreed Mal. I've always been opposed to leg byes.

Hey Cennals, how much is it gonna cost us to get you to dig that pitch up tonight (if the game is still on  )?

I would have thought a slab of good cold Aussie beer should do it?

200-6 Superhero gone.

Silly chance if we keep the target under 400?

And there we go. The end to a massively over rated cricketer. Seeya Fred.

The rule has always been that you are awarded leg byes if struck and trying to evade.
MAL and ROD should both know this.

Sorry ROD, was replying to this part of your post and wanted to clear up the evading part of the rule.

No worries Smithy. What are your thoughts on that rule?

That's quite silly thinking about it, scoring runs when you aren't even trying to hit the ball.

No worries Smithy. What are your thoughts on that rule?

It's been around for so long I haven't really thought about it.
I'd think a smack around the helmet is a win to the bowler and for the side to be punished 4 runs for it is a bit tough.
Where does it stop though? was it called "leg byes" initially for a reason ? should it only be limited to mis hits that aren't out LBW ?

Not sure Rod but I can definitely see where you and MAL are at with this.

I never recall so many blokes getting hit in the head before helmets were common place. I am not saying helmets are a bad idea or should be banned but how often do we see blokes get smashed in the helmet nowadays? Trott would be lucky to be alive if he didn't have a helmet.
