North gets Cook caught at 1st slip.

That turned and bounced lots.

This game won't last till tea tomorrow night.

In my 40+ years of following Test cricket, there have been some poor days in terms of performance, but I'm struggling to think of one that rivals a pathetic batting effort with the Ashes on the line. Gutless, and typical of what I think about batsmen. Quite happy to pick off self serve runs when the wickets are featherbed, but the moment you have to work for runs it's just too much to ask of the precious little darlings.

Yes, throw in Norwood and it's been a wonderful 2009 for me. A year totally devoid of highlights. All three teams expected to do much better that they did.

EG 3/58 at stumps
I just staggered at Pontings captaincy close to stumps
We have EG in dire straits at 3 for with about 7-8 overs b4 stumps
MJ has frightened the crap outa BELL + COLLINGWOOD who both surrendered to short leg catches
MJ with 2 wickets is almost giving AU some hope of winning
MJ 2/12 off 4 overs gets dragged to allow the part timer Simon Katich to bowl
FFS
Why ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
____________________________________________________________________
The pitch may be a raging turner but that didnt stop BROAD from taking 5/37
The pitch may be a raging turner but that didnt stop JOHNSON from taking 2/12
____________________________________________________________________

TROTT on debut gets to 8 not out after facing a diet of North and Katich in the last half an hour

IF
IF
IF
If the umpires have told PONTING that light was an issue .....
Then bowl MJ , walk off the ground and start again day 3
Well I mean, a draw is still a win for AU if we fluke batting exceptionally well in the 4th dig and with some inclement weather about, you never ever know

EG 332
AU 160
EG 3/58

NORTH...... 0/33 + 1/15
WATTO..... 0/26
KAT.....................0/6

Thats 1/80 from the gift timers

It does not matter if its a spinning spinanazarrrr
MJ/HILF/SIDDLE/CLARK are still better bowlers than the part timers NORTH/KAT/CLARKE/WATTO

EG lead by 210
Someone has to get to PONTING b4 play day 3
and say
""Ricky we gotta getem out for another 100 runs today, you gotta bowl the 2 most likely guys to get quick wickets, and Ricky you gotta go with Peter and Mitch first thing mate."

Not over yet boys!!

Just very, very, very, very close to it!

I haven't read too much of this thread, but I hope there hasn't been much in the way of "the pitch is crap" talk. Sure a couple got out to the pitch, but most of it was just the wrong stroke to the wrong ball. That spell by Broad was hardly different to any of his others...pitch map all over the place. Simply a lack of mental application by the top order. So very disappointing in a decider. Almost unbelievable actually. I feel like I haven't actually woken up and am having some sort of ridiculous dream.

50 bucks on the Aussies at 20/1 from here??, come on boys, find a way to at least make it interesting...please??

Piss poor. Ian Bell scores the highest in the first innings and the weasel-faced Broad takes 5 wickets. We don't deserve to win this series.

I've been staggered by Ponting's captaincy ever since he took on the role. One of Australia's greatest ever cricketers, but his captaincy is puzzling, lacks logic, and seems to rely totally upon hunches and guess work. He has no idea whatsoever about the right bowler for the right moment.
