Just seems like Rooster was trying to distance Birdwood from the so called "big spending clubs" without knowing what clubs are spending

Birdwood have two quality recruits, as does pretty much every team in the comp. Uraidla, Blackwood and Hahndorf would have more than half a dozen highly paid recruits, and possibly as many as a dozen paid players. You do the sums...that's a shite load of money.

Looking at the results over the weekend and i saw the scores of a country division game . What happened with the raiders didnt expect them to go down by so much. Where there some big outs ? or was it just a poor effort by everyone at the raider camp

not distancing us... but it doesnt take a genius to work out who the really big spending club are... if you have 5 or more players with reserves or league experience, fair chance your going to be paying out some big cash

No big outs, just a horrible performance by the raiders. Absolutely torn to shreds by a fast and hard runnning blackwood side who were very sharp on the day and also deadly accurate (kicking 44.12 on a windy day is pretty impressive).

There hasn't been any mention of Mt Barker looking for a new coach. Does anyone know why he is leaving - did he get told thanks but no thanks or was it his decision to leave?

Or do Mt Barker advertise every year just to see who's out there?

Gimp, He is on a 2 year contract, this year being the 2nd, they have to advertise at the end of a contract as part of their constitution. They have told Nick that he needs to reapply just like everyone else. He hasn't been shown the door, they are just keeping their options open and if no one applies then he will be offered a straight contract extension. Will have to wait until the start of Oct before we hear anything, as the closing date is the 23rd of September.

what do you mean if your side is ready to play ? you really must be the magpiemaster if your side just decides to play when they feel like it, that really worked on sat, theres no point having all these big names when you obviously dont play as a team, the 3 time giant has been asleep for a prolonged period this season (not by choice like the mighty magpies), but are starting to wake up at the right time, your having a lend of yourself, if its not us who rolls you, then uraidla will.

magpiemaster, it might be the right time to stop talkin the pies up and let their footy do the talking, the club dont know who you are but arent very happy about you talking them up. in the past month, only the blackwood game has given any indication tthat we're better than 5th so we really have nothing to get cocky over yet

Cheers Jailbird - I thought that might've been the case as normally you hear something if a coach gets the sack or quits the club.

very interesting scores - did blackwood/uraidla rest any players... would have thought the margins would have been a lot more....

Uri's only had the one out I believe. Ironbank were up at halftime and were only 5 points down with 15 minutes to play and then Uri's kicked the last 6. Uri's would need to play better than that to win the flag but then again the Bankers have a great future to look forward to in 2010. Bring on the finals.

Yep, got it in the second quarter. The small crowd up there had a good laugh invading the pitch AFL style.
Blackwood won't be in the finals for long this year if they play as badly as they did yesterday. To Lobethal's credit they played very well and I expect to see them get at least a couple wins next year based on yesterday's commitment to the ball.
