What happened to Souths juniors under Pyman seeing at present they arent much .

I understand well the point you are making MJ, yet i think Pyes would have liked very much to be in charge of the players payments, yet considering how tightly the board hold the reigns at the SAFC, I am pretty confident to say that he would not have much to do with it even remotely!

You have to concede that Pyman did get South into the finals for the first time in a number of years, considering where South were before he got the job at the club along with where we ended up after he was let go, I think that he did incredibly well to achieve that result for the club. Its something I have often wondered, where the SAFC might be if we had continued Pyman on with the club and performed a Malcolm Blight styled cull on the whiteants in the playing group identified by Kevin Morris in his report!

Don't be surprised if a former South coach is in the mix though......?

I'd like to see Pyman in the hunt for the job, "a spade is a spade" kind of man.

I would be happy with Pyman.

Honor wouldn't get past stage 1 of the process. Backward move and wouldn't be contemplated.

you could be onto something .But I was referring to him as well as Jarman who both attempted to buy premierships.

Don't really want to get into an opinion re Pye's suitability for the Eagles job but I think criticism that he & the club ignored the South zone is a little unfair.

Went back through my notes and early in 2007 in the space of the first 8 games he blooded 6 local juniors from the zone.

Comparing with other league clubs at the same stage of 2007, Glenelg have also had 6, West 5, Norwood & North 4, Central & Port 2, Sturt & Eagles 1 each.

Most importantly we had on board Trevor Potts in the reserves coach position. As a 4 time SFL premiership coach Trevor knew the SFL and its people very well, he spent a lot of time working on that relationship and he performed what in retrospect was a miracle, getting the South reserves into the grand final. In many ways the reserves coach is the key link in zone relatonships because he handles the fringe players coming in & out of zone clubs to the reserves.

As the sole person at South in 2007 whose performance could not be questioned, the treatment that led to him feeling he had to get a gig elsewhere (Norwood) was disgraceful.

For the record the Panthers to debut at league level early in 2007 were
- Brad Hunter (Rd 1 v Eagles) from Reynella Wineflies, SFL
- Mitch Portlock (Rd 2 v Central) from Willunga Demons, GSFL
- Mark Fenoughty (Rd 3 v Norwood) from McLaren Eagles, GSFL
- James Turner (Rd 3 v Norwood) from McLaren Eagles, GSFL
- James Boyd (Rd 7 v Glenelg) from Noarlunga Shoes, SFL
- Sam Elliott (Rd 10 v West) from Strathalbyn, GSFL

Could not agree more Phil H, the treatment of Trevor Potts at the SAFC was an utter disgrace......

....but this is what our FOC and board thinks is a good decision to go forward.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

If he got the coaching job you can guarantee that some of the senior players would leave the club after what he thought of them on the eve of the 2006 grand final, suggesting that they should be dropped because of poor performance (including Ken Farmer medallist Mark Passador).

He's absolute rubbish as a coach and journalist - if I was on the selection panel I wouldn't even waste my time reading his application.

... Perhaps in his current position he's not meeting his KPIs so Clay Sampson has spoken to the media and said that Honor needs to look for a new job? ;)

The Eagles are a lot more professional than to have wasted money on advertising for a coach and engaging a consultant if they had already made up their mind on a coach (Honor).

The Eagles will wait until close of applications...............the club might just be able to pick a surprise little gem.

No Honor for this supporter!!!!!!!

 You only have to read his little efforts at the start and end of the season re. predictions , to realise he is clueless . Plus he couldnt coach his hand if his life depended on it . His life would be hell inside half a season , if any club was that stupid to take a punt on him .

Brenton Honor resigns from Board of Directors
Monday 17 August, 2009

Brenton Honor has announced that he has resigned from his position as Football Director on the Board of Directors. He also has resigned as Chairman of the Football Operations Committee.

"I returned to the club 2 years ago after being approached by Mark Naley, together with David Kappler and Shane Butler to form the Football Operations Committee. We had a vision and a plan that we believed would create sustained on-field success. Whilst I still believe in the plan, it is fair to say some key decisions made haven't ensured the plan would be successful."

"I appreciate how much the members and supporters are hurting and understand how disappointed they are with our current position on the premiership table. I feel they would expect someone to be accountable for the decisions made. I am prepared to take a large part of the responsibility for these decisions."

"While it is debatable how my decision to resign will benefit the club long term, I feel it is the honourable thing to do."

"I have really enjoyed my 2 years serving the club at board level. I believe we have an excellent mix of expertise and experience across all areas that successful clubs are accustomed to. Once we get the football department right, the sky will be the limit. I wish the club every success in the future".

Yes, Honor wants the Eagles coaching position.
However, the bigger question is, do the Eagles really want him to coach them? I would say not!

Pushed or left of his own accord? In any case that is a positive move for South.

Surely the WWT FC hierachy are not so dumb to even accept an application from Honour???
