Pink was a bit lighter to kick, which was tough in windy conditions. We switched back to the red at half time.

I didn't really notice that. Wind would have been going a different direction at the other grounds tho, I guess, as I believe barmera faces east - west and the other grounds face north-south. and im pretty sure there was a northerly so the no one really had a great wind advantage at the lakeside.

i was going to mention pink balls but i forgot....
i thought they were crap. cause or no cause both captains in our game complained they were too light, felt flat and were slippery. plus the TRAINING BALL stamped on it would make me think they should only be used for training. stingy umpires wouldnt let us change the ball at all.

Both captains approached the umpires with their thoughts, and it was changed at half time. The umpires in our game were pretty good on the weekend IMO. A lot of 50m penalties but not too bad overall.

Are there some injury problems around the place just before finals that could have a major impact?

Smith (Loxton) re-did his hammy again on the weekend by all reports. Have to be 3 weeks out.
Stevens (Waikerie) One played in permanent pocket carrying injury reportedly and the other one is out injured - for how long and what with?
Horner (Waikerie) Rumour has it he has re-done his medial in his knee??
Liddle (Loxton) Out for season with knee so they say.

Fairly big injuries for the clubs concerned and may have tightened up the race for the flag. Can anyone shed any light on these or confirm?

Shayne Stevens is not injured, I dont think he played permanently up forward either. Horner played and trained no probs.

At least those clubs are in the finals. I won't know what to do with myself on a Saturday after this week . Probably a fair chance my interest in the Spring Racing Carnival will commence at the Berri Hotel each Saturday as of next week
