Doesn't work out well for me as i have to work all Saturday so miss out on Centrals clash against South which i was gonna record.

But must admit it is a very smart move. The sturt v glenelg game will definatley be a better advertisment for the competition rather than the other game. The way the league is heading we need as much positive publisity as we can get and showing this game will benefit the league more.

Good move SANFL

not really because those that go will go anyway mind you if it happened to be wet a few fair weather supporters would stay home but the overall picture of promoting the competition this is the game that should be shown, so that makes this the right game to telecast & this should happen every week

Bays v Sturt at the Bay last year was the televised game, didn't affect the crowd too much...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

:?

I'm not surprised though, there has been a feeling of irrelevance attached to South all season really as far as media coverage goes. Comes with the territory of sitting bottom.

Agree Saintal South and Central supporters who cant make the game who would have seen it on TV have been short changed

The way I see it more people will now roll up at Hamra and less people at Unley

I try and watch as many games as possible, whenever I can
If there are 2 games on the same day I will always get to the non televised game and watch the other game on ABC TV on tape
Perhaps other people do as well

So what does this mean
I will now go to Hamra to see CD V SA on saturday
I will now go to Woodville Oval and see EG V WA on sunday
I will now tape the ST V GL game
B4 the changes the only oval I was going to was Unley !!!!

So my $$$ will be spent at the other grounds
Also with more people watching the game on TV = less crowd and less $$$ at the ST V GL game

Disagree Mr Bayman
Saying this should happen every week is not neccessarily right

Theres a lot of people incapacitated, elderly, unable to afford to get to the game who barrack for the lower finishing teams
This is thier opportunity to see their teams as they cant get to the grounds for whatever reasons
There was one year in my life I was unable to attend 1 SANFL game and if I was a SA supporter I might not have seen them at all if we used your this should happen every week view.

Quite simply get every team on TV equally every year

Would that mean the Central v South game can then move to Sunday to avoid clash with Crows v West Coast?

Some good points there Mal. Don't forget the country folk as well who can't get to the games.

Anyway, just a bit of a rant (maybe the afl results have put me in a bad mood 8) ). it's just that its not the first time this season a south game that was supposed to be telecast on tv/radio has been ditched for another match.

Whilst I'm extremely happy that the game will be on TV (as I'll be in Melbourne and will tape it), I agree that as best as possible, each team should have the same exposure on ABC. We're all paying for the coverage...

Crows games don't generally affect crowd numbers at home games in the beff, especially against South.

I think Lairdy would much prefer to play on Saturday giving the Dogs a 7 day break going into their massive saturday night game against Sturt.

All teams deserve a fair run when it comes to tv broadcasting.

But in saying this playing a game where a lower ranked team is going to get flogged is not going to help disinchanted supporters back to the footy. Eg WA V Sturt @ Unley CD V SA @ Elizabeth etc.

IMO one of the big pluses for televised SANFL is getting people back to the football. There is no point preeching to the converted, eg most of us on here, if we want to see glossy 'the best teams playing' football watch 7 and 10 with the AwFL.

At the end of the day the best way the SANFL is going to survive is to get as many bums on seats at ALL games as possible.

How does showing the best teams week in week out help the competition? When the strong get stronger and the weak get weaker it rarely works out well for anyone in the long run.
Never argue with an idiot, those watching may not be able to tell the difference

Though i think showing the top sides in the last few weeks is a great way to build attention and enthusiam for the upcoming finals series.
