I actually haven't met him ... know his grandparents who come from the side of my wife's family who hail from Gawler. My father-in-law and his brother were stalwarts of South Gawler Footy Club for many years.

Meanwhile, there was a game of footy on at Prospect Oval yesterday... ;)

As good as Central were, North were dissapointing but struggled with skill level under pressure and certainly missed Matt Wright's toughness around the stoppages. Although not in great form this year, the Roosters missed Clint Alleway as a lead up option across half forward and too mnay times North would find themselves just outside 50 with nothing on offer further up the field because Damon White was up field.

Centrals looked back to their best and their work rate across the 4 quarters would be up there with the best for the season. Skipper Paul Thomas was excellent, going close to a career high 30+ posessions, as well as being that 3rd man up again at congested ball ups, knocking it into space for the small brigade to run onto.

Despite a heavy tag from North first gamer Ben Williams, Dog's co-captain Matt Slade found some good form again and Trent Goodrem did a very good running job on Rhys Archard. Despite copping 2 or 3 heavy knocks on the hip, Brayden O'Hara continued his stellar season and I have mail saying he is a very good chance to be recruited into the AFL next season.

Todd Pfieffer played one of his better games at senior level for the Roosters, leading the goal scoring with 3 majors and certainly was one of a few who put in for 4 quarters. Eddie Sansbury showed how good he can be kicking 5 goals and setting up another couple and interestingly back at presentations, coach Roy Laird said he was close to being dropped in recent weeks because of his lack of work rate.

Ian Callinan's class came to the fore throughout the game as well, showing how valuable he will be for the Dogs come finals time when he is fully fit and firing. With Westies being pumped by Sturt and North losing their 4th in a row, it seems that those 2 sides are now battling for that last spot in finals action, to simply just make up the numbers.

Good review, I really like Eddie Sansbury playing as a forward and think he is definaltey a wild card come finals time. He has the ability to kick goals quickly and in different styles whether its a marking contest or from brilliant ground work, he has many tricks.

Also thought our first quarter was one of the best we have played all year, we just didn't put a huge score on the board in that quarter. We dominated it from the first bounce and attacked in massive numbers

WHat else can be said North are woeful. Westies will beat them its just a matter of can the Bloods make the 5. Dogs did the job won all 4 quarters. Thomas BOG Sansbury Osullivan Ohara Callinan Gowans x2 all played very well. Good to see Adam Switala back in some excellent touch.

The same West that got beaten by 109 points yesterday? I'd suggest that whilst i don't disagree that North were terrible yesterday West had to have been worse seeing as they lost by more than twice as much against a lesser side than North played.

Thats the one. The same West that beat Centrals this year. Unlike North who have lost all three to the dogs by an average of 6 goals.

West always seem to struggle against Sturt for some reason. Still from what I have seen West atleast have a crack North dont. Plus with Allen pulling his hammy he is a very important player for North.

Ah, i see, the same West that always seems to struggle against North as well as Sturt. When was the last time West beat North? Could be going back a fair way to find that one.

By the way who is this Allen you speak of? I know of a Ty Allen who plays for the Bays but i know of no player going by the name Allen at North.

You made the point West struggle against Sturt, I think you'll find RR is trying to say they also struggle against North and relative form against other clubs is fairly irrelevent.
I could be wrong but I think the last time they beat us was 2003.
We haven't had close to having the wood over other clubs like we do over West (and most clubs have had up till now, min you West did make the finals in 04).

I was happy with our effort - the first 4 quarters we have played since maybe Anzac Day. On top of our regular performers we had Callinan and Sansbury find a bit of form and our defence which has looked a bit suspect at times looked a lot better. With the tall defenders all playing well and the likes of Cochrane and Thomas carrying and delivering the ball we are starting to get beck to the tried and true game plan.

A good hit-out in preparation for the real stuff in Sept and beyond.
We used to be good :-(

I was there UK Fan. Given i've missed only 13 games since i started going in 1987 it's probably unfair to suggest i prefer to watch from afar.
