Now, it's probably not surprising to me, but there is a difference of one goal between this tally and the official tally. I have Chambers now on 619 goals, and this is one more than what the Football Budget shows. The discrepancy comes from Round 21 2005, where the Advertiser has him on 2.3, but the Football Budget only advances by one the following week.

Anyway, here is a table of this by opponent:

Image

He notched up his 100th goal against West today.

This is by year:

This is a table of the totals for Sturt each season, the %G is the percentage of goals that Chambers kicked out of the team tally, followed by %B which is the same for behinds, then the accuracy for Sturt, and lastly is the percentage of scoring shots Chambers scored compared to the team tally.

This is a breakdown of goals kicked in a match:
Goals No.
11 1
10 1
9 3
8 2
7 12
6 18
5 15
4 27
3 34
2 28
1 22
0 19

Spelly, make sure your stats database is backed up properly, or a copy made and sent to the historical archives FFS ... 'cause we'll all kill you if you lose it! ;)

Bloody legend just quietly.

I worked with a Sturt player who played in the 2002 premiership team. When I remarked to him at one stage about being impressed with Chambers, he told me he didn't think he was all that good. I wonder what he'd think now :)

And no, I'm not going to name the player!! :)

In testiment to Chambers, as an opposition supporter I tend to recall the days when Zorzi has held him to a bare minimum and forget the days he kicked bag. The good ones can do this. I recall Peter Knightrs once thinking Peter Hudson had a ppor day and he asked him how many goals he kicked. The answer ... "Eight". Knights had thought he'd kicked 2 or 3 :)

42 goals against the dogs in his last 8 outings. Not bad at all.

Chambers is certainly the best key position forward in the SANFL and one of the reasons Sturt is having a good season. But this strength is also Sturt's weakness - stop Chambers and nearly 1/3rd of Sturt's scoring in gone. Something competing coaches will be targeting come finals time!

Would love to know the stats on Sturts record when Chambers hasn't played.

And yes he has killed Centrals the last 8 times he has played us, except for in the final last year.

This is why we have Herring (7th on the goal kicking list I think) and Johncock. 12 goalkickers yesterday so we may not be the one trick pony you're making us out to be. Pay no attention to Johncock and Fish at your peril ;)
