Ramblers will support most motions including WYC motion, however not ICC Heat Policy or Sheidow's points reduction across all grades for forfeits.

If we are not comfortable with filling our lowest side we will not nominate the side, so we won't forfeit. I'd like to think other clubs will do the same.

that is the path we will be going down as well.

The umpires payment motion will be an interesting one, there was only one part of that motion that we took exception to.

Is the WYC motion for the Limited Overs comp in DIv 6/7?

I was at odds with our committee regarding the umpires payments

I can see why people want it... pay more, get more interested people, which means hopefully a higher standard of umpiring... which is why I was for it... but the wording of the motion didn't mention that, hence why I think it will be shut down.

Fair point, you might just end up paying more for the same standard of umpire.

The one day comp is a good idea, and has merit, but I get a little worried that the comp will be an easy way out for these guys who play, but really want to have a hit and bowl all on the same day, and I think it will weaken clubs, especially were you have a lot of older guys playing. I can see it turning into Beer cricket. I understand that there are alot of pressures in this day and age, and in a perfect world I would personally vote for it, but I can see it being manipulated and not used for what it was designed for and that is for guys who cant play every week.

I know it wouldnt work at my club, cos we have a few lazy cricketers there.

Yep no doubt there will be clubs, and more so players, that manipulate the system to suit themself and may turn it into either a "beer comp" or even the opposite and make it a bloody good comp with people that should be playing in sections 1-3 playing in this competition and not at the level they should be.

It will inevitably encourage people out of retirement and postpone retirement for others which is IMHO the main responsibility of the ASCA, to have as many people as possible playing cricket and this competition will help provide for that.

Also bazza there are clubs that manipulate the section grading already and no doubt those clubs with weak leadership that allow that to occur will allow the wrong people to play in the one day comp. There are many people playing in sections 4-6 that in no way should they be.

You make some very good points Bloods, and if it gets through, I hope it works well, we have been needing a comp like that for a few years now.

I hope it does Bazza as it may keep me out of retirement.

The onus will be on the clubs and not he players to pick the team in that comp as Section 1 cricketers who wish to take the foot off the pedal would not be overly welcome in the spirit of the division.

Somewhere for blokes who still want to play but not commit to 6 months of Saturdays in the sun, somewhere for promising juniors to get a feel for senior cricket and to hopefully bring some recently retired players back to the game / club.

My idea was a purely selfish one bazza, I'll admit that but I think there are blokes all over Adelaide in my position in life, wife, kids, work, house and something has got to give. I dont want it to be cricket but in order of priority it comes well down the list at the moment.

How times change, I used to live for it.

That is what it will come down to Booney. The success of the competition and the spirit it is played in will rest with the clubs and won't be with the association.
