The North players must have thought they had diseases too..they couldnt and wouldnt get anywhere near them on Sunday.

At Noarlunga the players walk across an area about 2 metres wide between the "players race" and the boundary fence, but that is manned by security of some description, not necessarily official. At Oval Avenue the home team runs from the rooms to the oval across a similar distance but it is fenced by swinging the boundary gates in the opposite direction and is usually manned by a couple of club officials. There is no protection from anything thrown from the crowd at either of these venues.

I don't know if you have been to Prospect or not (I was there a couple weeks ago for the u18s), but the area between the oval and the visitors changerooms isn't protected properly due to cars driving past on the odd occasion. Maybe NAFC and the Local council could do something about this.

Now THIS is a VERY GOOD POINT. And it could be easily fixed.
There are 2 gates cars can go through on that side of the ground, one is on the eastern side of the away change rooms but the other is between the away change rooms and the RSL. 80% of the time common sense is used and they open up the Eastern most gate which makes for an easy egress for the cars BUT 20% of the time and I have no idea why (not sure if it has something to do with the ABC OB Van or not) cars have to enter from that gate between the RSL and the changerooms, this one was open for the Sturt game (the safer one open for the Glenelg game).
Another option would be to have cars go in one of 2 or 3 other gates which traffic can go through (2 on the south side of the Grandstand and the Ken Farmer gates on the Eastern side)
I park inside the oval and have noticed this and mentioned it to my missus several times, when we arrive sometimes its half time of the ressies you'll have league players out the front, ressies players going in, club officials and umpire officials everywhere. I always drive with caution and drive extremely slowly as most of these officials/players aren't thinking about cars going backwards and forth. It is a dangerous situation. Its also very hard to get through that way with a larger car.
I'm not sure if North have anything to do with this, but next time I see the CEO I'll question him and let you know how I go ME.

I may not have the facts right I am about to present correctly
But this is what someone has messaged me

In 1986 Allan Stringer hit a North Adelaide spectator who had abused him as he ran past.
This apparently happened on the oval
A policeman saw it and arrested Stringer.
My informant then went on to say
*This led to the 2nd siren situation*

So far we had have an incident in the SANFL g/final in1954 that led to a players race being introduced
And maybe the Stringer altercation on the oval led to the 2nd siren rule

Can someone confirm the Stringer/2nd siren question aftermath?

Other way round but...

Robbie Muir jumped the fence and had a crack at some supporters after a game.

IIRC, Woodville Oval, circa 1985?

Just been advised that the Federal Government has added to their travel advisories. Prospect Oval has been rated between Somalia and Iraq in regard to dangerous places to travel. If in the area, please avoid the Prospect Cricket Club and Visitors change rooms. No incidents have been reported, but "something could happen". There has been unconfirmed reports that Lee Harvey Oswald and Bigfoot have been spotted. Anyone attending or playing (Please God protect those fragile Centrals boys) this weeks SANFL game, please take extreme care. The Federal Government acknowledges that you have more chance being injured on the way to Prospect Oval, but once again, you can never be to careful.

News just at hand...
Viewers are to be warned that fresh outbreaks of sarcasm are sweeping across all attempted conversations about player safety, particularly where the words North Adelaide, Prospect Oval or Cocks coincide with said attempts to convey ideas or arrive at feasible conclusions based on ideas.
In an unprecedented attempt to unbog conversations, authorities have posted a statement to the effect that everybody else understands that North Adelaide people are just a fun loving bunch, and that no one is unfairly picking on them. However, regular users are advised to exercise extreme caution when raising any topic related to the North Adelaide Footy Club, no matter how benign. ;)

Fixed for ya mate. ;)

To tell you the truth North has nothing to do with it, melodramatic over the top topics do though, hence why it was exactly the same in the spear tackle incident which didn't involve North nor was it played at Prospect. Nice try though. ;)

Sarcasm - A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

Doesn't mention humour in that at all.....

Cool mate, we're on the same page.

As mentioned before Ive copped a lot of earfuls from people for the moderation team not allowing or encouraging more humour on the site, the moment we do and we have a tidal wave of do gooders having a QQ. I suppose we'll never win but we do try and looking at the numbers of users of this site and the traffic we get we must be doing something right! :D

WEDGIE has rightly alluded to a fact that if the GL players wanted to stay on the ground after the 2nd siren then there is no responsibility by the league or the security firm to offer any security as the players walk off the ground.
I still dont think its safe but sobiet

However
2 Glenelg players left the field b4 the rest of the team [Willougby + one other]
They walked thru the crowd before the 2nd siren sounded
Both were not afforded any security as they came off the field
They came off the field approximately 2 minutes after the umpires came off

If thats the case who is responsible for this oversight ?

the only ground where I have concerns is at Elizabeth whenever a team plays Centrals. There is never a warning to spectators about entering the ground until the players have left and wait for the siren - the spectators always line up on the oval which the visiting team has to walk through to get to the changerooms and the umpires have an escort - what about the players and support staff!!!!! The SANFL needs to look at safety concerns at Elizabeth~

The only near altercation I've been involved in was with a chooky supporter who was firing up big style and suggesting to my mate that a fight to save the cocks honour might be the go. Could have been the final siren blowing in mid air that made him blow hot air. :D

I'm not too surprised that Wedgie has spotted a rising tide of chookery that will start the revolution shortly.

I think that the main point is YES the North faithful are correct nothing has happened, but what a few of us have pointed out is something could happen due to the poor security standards in relation to the Umpires and Away team entering and exiting the ground through the crowd.

No that many years ago you could stand shoulder to shoulder (maybe not quite but pretty close) with the players at Qtr and 3Qtr time but and incident ended that and now they rope that side of the square off to keep the crowd outside the Square.

Times are changing and unfortunatly more and more shit incidents are happening that ruin things for the people doing the right things. Which would be 99% of the people that got to SANFL footy.

How do you work that out? I remember and saw a lot more incidents in the 80s and 90s. Most games I went to there was heated arguments and near fights breaking out all the time, I haven't seen one incident of concern recently, only a few come to mind, first being at Elizabeth 3 or 4 years ago when a drunkard started a bloody fight, also about 5 years ago when a drunken Port supporter broke a girls collarbone, and at a similar time when a drunk Eagles supporter decided to push me so I took him and his 3 mates down leaving them with blood lips, black eyes and another assortment of bruises, before that it would have been the one of the Port cheersquad hitting a Port player with a rock which was probably early 90s.
Police used to be everywhere at all games.
Things used to be a lot more heated. I think most SANFL fans show each other a bit more mutual respect these days and things are a lot more pleasant.
I haven't even seen a decent heated argument in recent seasons! It used to be a weekly occurance!
