LOL We were sitting in the Western stand around about Centre Wing, and it clearly looked like a goal from where we were sitting (obviously that far away isn't the best place to judge).

Agree with the calls about Jarrad, the clear standout player on the field I thought.

3rd quarter was a spin out just how quickly the Eagles piled the goals on, glad Norwood showed some pluck to stick it out, but we've had enough honourable losses now and really need to take some huge steps and start beating quality teams.

I was sitting behind the goals and it looked a goal.
That was the first Eagles win over Norwood this year.
Watching Norowood run down the wing/centre handball handball handball kick to an Eagles back man.Eagles kick run kick ball in to the Forward line to a Norwood backman. Was the story of the first half rather awful to watch .
Third term eagles found some speed with a depleted bench .
Then lost the plot in the fourth

I reckon you guys will need Passador and/or Salter for the finals series, even if Passador's presence just makes life a bit easier for Kenny.

Grocke is an interesting one ... In all the games I can recall seeing him v Norwood he's always done some special things, but he really seems to swing in and out of the game.

If he could play at his best for 4 full quarters he could be an ultra damaging player.

Grocke is very good value. Does a lot of good work further up the field providing an avenue inside 50 and has an excellent defensive side to his game. If he put himself in a position to kick more goals he would become the premier CHF in the comp.

Allmond I thought had his worst game for the year yesterday. Turnovers galore. He's still a gun though.

Corbett looked like a rabbit stuck in headlights. He has generally been very good for us on most occasions since he debuted last year, but wasn't switched on for whatever reason yesterday. Can not afford performances like that in big games.

Polec was very impressive. Has a touch of class about him and knew exactly what he was doing when he had the ball (the opposite to a rabbit stuck in headlights I s'pose). Destined for AFL no doubt.

Jarrad was outstanding and has looked a different player (in attitude and effort) since coming back from injury. He's looking sharp and his efforts paid dividends yesterday with a BOG performance. What I can't understand is how Norwood did not pay him any respect. He was easily best afield in the first half, but tore Norwood a new one at the beginning of the 3rd which was the catalyst for the Eagles match winning 15 minutes.

I was watching closely and Kris Massie was his opponent for the 3rd quarter. I would be filthy on Massie if I was a Norwood supporter. He didn't even attempt to man up on him at any stage. Watching Massies a few times this year and he doesn't look interested, yet he is a Vice Captain? I guess that's one of the reasons why Norwood have gone from on the rise and being a predicted top 3 side to a bottom 3 side this season.

Funny u should mention Passador
8 goals 2 in the two's yesterday should be an in at Thebbie next week.

Grocke plays that role better on a bigger ground IMHO.

Was talking with a norwood fan yesterday and he would love Massie and Jericho gone from the club. His words Massie looked fast when running off the oval.
Massie to me looked like he was trying to play an AFL style game .
Paul Stewart had a shocker but first game back from the AFL they normally do.

The match report is already up on our website - along with 2 great articles by Duane S - his in the nest was a ripper agian.

Also remember Super Sunday on again next week a great afternoon for just $25 includes food, drinks and chance in the draw for $1000 main prize.

Calling stats as I do, I came away from game thinking it was out of balance for both teams re hanballs to kicks.

Eagles vs Norwood

By Peter Argent

A magnificent 9 goal third quarter was the vehicle behind the Eagles ninth win of the year against Norwood at the Parade.

After a scrappy and error ridden first half, Woodville West Torrens completely dominated in what is affectionately known as the premiership quarter.

During this term they increased a 1 point half time margin to a match winning 43 points at lemons.

While the side fell to sleep in the final quarter, they were never in danger of being overrun, winning in the end by a comfortable 21 point margin.

Driving the ball forward with his powerful left foot, Luke Jarrad was the Eagles best in this win they needed to achieve against a side they were expected to beat.

(Back on Woodville Oval in Round 10, when Trevor Hill was still in charge of the Redlegs, it was a day to forget from a home side’s perspective.)

Veteran and now member of the SANFL 200 Club, Justin Cicolella was creative around the ball and across half forward, while Nathan Daniel looked perfectly suited to his role across half back.

Crows listed footballer Jared Petrenko was impressive deep in defence, while Trent Hentschel was also strong in his role in the back half.

James Rimington was effective as well and deserved a mention for his personal effort.

Ken McGregor, who played most of the game up forward kicked 3 goals, as did 2006 Premiership player Dale Symmons, while the quartet of Power rookie Mitch Banner, Jay Cheep, Adam Grocke and teenager Matthew Goldsworthy all slotted through a pair.

A special mention must go to the Eagles eighth SANFL debutant for the season, a lad who started the year in the Under 18’s, Jared Polec. He handled the step up well and kicked a goal in the third quarter.

This win guarantees Ron Fuller’s impressive record of Finals appearances, engineering the Club into the Finals each year since he started in 2001 except for one.

Not certain I agree with peters thoughts of the game being in the bag when Norwood got back to within five points late in the game!!

I missed most of the first half due to work commitments but made it in time to see the remainder. 4 goals a piece in the first half on a perfect day for footy is shocking. I hope 5RPH weren't covering the game because they wouldhave been calling smithfield crash clangers the entire first half. Ronnie must have revved the boys up at half time or maybe it was just my presence that lifted the boys because they looked very sharp in the 3rd quarter kicking 9 goals to 2 only to play a bad last quarter kicking 3 goals to 7. One thing that was glaringly obvious was the umpires were a disgrace especialy the blonded headed little joker I believe it is Dennis Russell. How they didn't pay a free kick for the headlock placed on Kenny McG in the last and the goal umpire at the parade end in the last needs to be sacked as it was glaringly obvious to all behind goals that Norwood didn't touch the ball that was called touched behind. Overall the best team won on the day even if we only played one good quarter of footy - perhaps that's all it takes to beat Norwood these days.

I agree with all of that, and I certainly wasn't trying to have a go at him with my previous comments, because I certainly rate him as a highly damaging player

LifeFM, with PhilH, called the game. I agree re free to Kenny in the last and it should have been a goal at the southern end. Go You Eagles.

The umpire made up for the kenny head lock by penalising Lower for his attempt at a courageous mark backing with the flight of the ball. It goes both ways.
McGuiness also penalised for executing a perfect tackle in front of the western stand.

I find the umpires reward soft efforts these days.

Living in Melbourne. The times I've been back in Adelaide for Saturdays in that time - usually once every 18 months - 2 years -- I've always usually headed to see Old Ignatians, with guys I know playing there. Didn't go to the Igs on Saturday, and probably should have, since Norwood lost and the Wolves upset Para Hills by 10 goals.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
