What an average display of football this game turned out to be. The first half was low scoring and low skilled. The Eagles came out and piled on 7 goals in the first 15 minutes of the 3rd quarter to blow a disinterested Norwood away. Somehow Norwood got within 9 points with 5 minutes to go in the game and were in for half a chance, but the Eagles kicked the last two goals of the game to win by 21 points. For the Eagles, Luke Jarrad was easily BOG and McKenzie easily 2nd best. It slipped away from there.

The umpiring was the worst I've seen all year. I thought the Eagles probably got the better of it, but just so inconsistent. A poor game all round really. A visit to the dentist would produce more highlights.

Sure not a great game but not nearly as bad as that Aerie.

For Norwood Kite was excellent playing as a lead-up forward and Rowe was great too. Young and Schulz did solid jobs in defence and Puopolo provided great dash although he faded a bit.

Having not been at the parade live for the legs for 18 years since the day
the day the elder Kelly brother did his knee in early 91, I'm not quite so
harsh. Enjoyed my day and five cans in the sun with CK but agree that
first 10 mins of the third killed the contest. Eagles charged out to 6 goals
in no time and our errors lamentable by foot.
Credit we tred to attack regularly the quickest way home but its a quick
death when you turn the ball over down the middle.
I don't tend to notice umps too much but a few decisions were strange,
albeit they weren't the difference.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

The first half of the match doesn't deserve a mention. Alright, it does, it was garbage from both sides. Then comes the third quarter, our bane of the last two matches (3.0 vs 12.8). Needless to say we looked like a million dollars and as a consequence ended up kicking goals "out of the rear end". Like McKenzie handballing over his head to Banner who throws it on the boot and sails through, and Cheep from the pocket on the run.

I thought, well we sorted out our third quarter habit of dropping off; now comes the last (past two games, 9.7 vs 2.3). This time the match turns out to be almost a carbon copy vs North at Prospect, and Norwood did charge home - credit for not pulling up stumps at this stage, to reduce the margin to 9 points. And while I was worried, I know that when you are that far down, all it takes is a steadier. It should have been from Jarrad, whose goal on the run was deemed touched on the line, when the ball was about a foot away from anyone. It came from Goldsworthy, and on the siren Grocke added another to make the margin more a reflection on the third quarter effort.

I agree with Areie re the umps. One of the few times I've seen Norwood and Eagle fans agree at a ground on one thing the umpires were crap!!
Luke Jarrad BOG
Kenny Mac man handled all day including having his head almost in a headlock a metre in front of the umpire .No free nothing .
then there was the point in the last term looked to me the player was over the goal line.
Not a game to build a finals campaign on Eagles but a win is a win ;)

I did have a feeling of being watched were u watching me Holden78 who did I speak to today?
I was wearing the Ron Fuller mask to hide from holden78
Was speaking to an injured Eagle if that helps ;)

Hey Micky, with all the talk of Fortresses, I declare we have dibs on Fortress Norwood - that's 8 straight wins there now. :)

Luke Jarrad oustanding all day....back to his very best......

it was his driving the ball deep into the forward line that resulted in most of the goals in the third quarter......

credit to Norwood for puting up a fight in the last.....

Young Jarrad Polec played a good 1st game......

Good win by the reserves too.......

jeez we miss Powell and Treeby.....

Agree with a bit of what everyone has said.

Strange game, first half ordinary, second half a game of 2 halves, would have expected there to have been a howlin southerly blowing but the sock hardly moved all day.

Though Jarrad was BOG by a mile and Cicca had another good game, McKenzie, McGregor, Allmond, Daniel, Grocke and Rimington were all good in patches...but in general the boys just have to find some consistency ...quickly.

Good performance by the reserves to get back for a win in the last quarter, Passador the key with 8.2 and certainaly put his hand up for selection next week

Umpiring once again confusing...seemed to be alot of missed frees prior to the ones being paid both ways.
Trust the process.

Only one loss this decade, in fact:

Round 7 2002
Norwood 5.2 7.6 12.10 15.11 (101)
Eagles 1.2 5.3 8.4 13.6 (84)
Norwood, 4837

10-1 since 2000, before 2000 it was 6 losses in a row (one of those was against South) and then 3 wins before that.

So:
at Norwood: Played 20 Won 13 Lost 7
vs Norwood: Played 19 Won 13 Lost 6

Also, the third quarter yielded 9.1 (55), which is a club record 3rd quarter vs Norwood. Previous record was 8.6 (54) in Round 21 2006 at Woodville. It was actually the 2nd best quarter vs Norwood, 9.5 (59) was scored in the 2nd quarter of Round 15 1991 at Football Park.

Thought Jared Polec's debut as a 16 yo ( turns 17 in October) was great. Was very composed and seemed to have some footy smarts. Too young to be drafted at the national draft but is eligible to be one of the Gold Coasts 17 yo selections. I believe he is rated very highly by them.

Jarred Allmond continued with his ultra consistent year and deserves to be drafted.

Luke Jarrad's game was his best for some time, has a full weight been lifted from his shoulders.

Hey Ferret
How about young Goldsworthy he did well at times ;)
As I said yesterday Luke Jarrad will tear teams apart if he is not manned up on .

LOL We were sitting in the Western stand around about Centre Wing, and it clearly looked like a goal from where we were sitting (obviously that far away isn't the best place to judge).

Agree with the calls about Jarrad, the clear standout player on the field I thought.

3rd quarter was a spin out just how quickly the Eagles piled the goals on, glad Norwood showed some pluck to stick it out, but we've had enough honourable losses now and really need to take some huge steps and start beating quality teams.
