Heart attack, 59.

Growing up in the '80s would have been a vastly different experience were it not for this man. I liked some, though not all of his movies. However most of his films were supplemented with soundtracks of '80s pop goodness (Pretty In Pink anyone? 8) ), and as such his movies were inescapable.

Looked to have a great working relationship with John Candy, making some lovely comedy together. Planes, Trains, Automobiles is still one of my all-time favorite movies. A sad day...John Hughes was another big part of my growing up gone. :(
