Spot on LF.
5 teams should be taking up the air-time from here on in.
Is it a 2 horse race? Any bold predictions?

I'll get us back on track!

I believe someone asked on Friday what the strengths and weaknesses were of each finals club, I'll give you my take on Langhorne Creek:

Strengths:

- The engine room is superb with Moore, Hille, R. Follett, and Feast, also Footner to rotate in to give another option if needed.

- The defence is rock-solid, I believe they are the best in the league (although still untried against a full strength Willunga attack) with Sherwood, Footner & James providing strong marking and plenty of run of half back.

Weaknesses:

- Forward line has question marks, no clear forward target. There are blokes up there that can be match winners on their day, but they also tend to go missing if the opposition matches up well and delivery from the midfield isn't ideal.

- Possible mental scars from 2007?? I don't think this will have too much of an effect to be honest, but it would be in the back of the minds of some players I reckon. That sort of experience certainly haunts you, anyone who says it doesn't is kidding themselves (BJ's discussion on his '03 experience is case in point).

Major Threats: Willunga obviously, but I would say that Strathalbyn is also a slight threat. LC are a tall outfit and Strath have a lot of little blokes that could beat them for pace at the contested ball, particularly if the conditions aren't ideal.

So there you go blokes, anyone care to give their take on other teams in the finals??

very small LF. torrens valley in the HFL have openly stated that they spent in excess of $125,000 last season and with more big names in again this year id imagine they would be pushing the 150 mark

Creeks effort against VH was hard to gauge.
VH were unaccountable in defence and throughout the majority of their inexperienced midfield, and continually turned the ball over in their attempts to get it down to their powerhouse forward.

Sherwood looked great down back, provided nice rebound and his decision making was first class. He can take up a big forward, still has a great leap and punch but possibly susceptible to a hard, fast leading forward.

Ginger, who were the guys rucking on Saturday? And what's the go with Feasty? Is he very much in the mix for finals?

The loss of Pittman must have hurt their structure immensely.
Ellis tries hard, but the delivery he receives is second rate.

Roos may be ok in years to come, but at this stage they're too inexperienced.
Will be out of the finals at the first attempt, looked like a couple of injuries for them out of saturday's game also.

Creeks look polished, and well drilled. Big danger to the Demons.

Did you see the game mate??
I only seen the first half and Creek looked awesome, too fast, too strong, too fit, too experienced and on paper just TOO GOOD. I think the margin at half time was around 8 goals. Victor's first half they fought hard and Creeks didn't have it as easy as the score line would suggest with both sides finding it hard to clear the ball from stoppages and get clean forward movement. From what I hear the last Qtr Creeks really ran riot and dominated.
Victor had a quiet a few guys missing and had 4 players get their first taste of A grade footy then also had a couple key injuries during the game, hopefully over the next week or two we can get a few guys back and get things back on track for the first week of finals.
Creeks are the better side I have seen so far this season and it should be a Willunga VS. Creek grand final and it will be a cracker game no doubt. Compass, Strath and Victor are just not upto the level of these two sides I wouldn't think.

TW, what's your take on VH?
Any further word on the injured brigade?
Who was missing from Saturday's clash?
Who is the X-Factor come finals time?

I actually can't recall who was in the ruck their D&W, didn't pay too much attention to that area to be honest. I believe that they use Golding a bit when Feasty's not available. I'm not part of the 'inner sanctum' to be honest so don't know the full details of the Feast arrangement, but my understanding is that he will play all finals. He is certainly fit, just his commitments with Sturt are keeping him out at the moment.

Gotta say I was really impressed to see Feasty back at the club for the 'player review' night Sat night even though he didn't play that afternoon. It seems that the 'city' blokes are very committed to the club and are really enjoying their time with LC. It's certainly been evident on the field over the last couple of weeks, the way they dismantled a top 4 team in Victor on the weekend was systematic and ruthless.

  I love the they're spending more than us debate blah blah blah. Fact, gun players cost money. I'll go into bat for Goolwa here, they have recruit well, they've been down for a long time but are on the rise due to quality recruits, Ewer - White & there coach Dennis. Success doesnt come in 1 season. If they can get a buzz or winning culture going around the club, they have some quality locals not playing for them (Josh Vick, Jurek, McKinleys etc) and still points to use i think, inticing them back they could become a force again. If you want quality players you have to pay $$$ or someone else will.

Creek have also done well with Feasty. If hes prepared to drive to the creek for a show after not playing, i believe hes there for the right reasons, even if hes on big $$$. The creeks not just around the corner.

Shoeboy are you saying your club does not offer big $$$?

I think its been Simmo's last year there for the last 3 years, haha!

If the Creeks were to win the flag, my guess would be it would be his last year there.

The times are a changing P32. Soon families will be coming on footy trips..!!

I believe what he is planning on doing is travelling around Australia with his young family Leyland Brothers style.

Altho i think if people are that interested in his personal plans for next year perhaps ask the man in person*

* be polite about it tho.
