Surely its time to consider moving Clarke to number 3 and maybe dropping Ponting down the order a bit......

I think they like bringing Clarke in later because of how well he plays spin.

No need to move Punter IMO but i would like to see Clarke at 4 sooner rather than later.

Heard an interview with Clarke today, very honest, reckons he needs to step up more in the 1st Innings (not sure of his 1st Inns performances Test wise over his career), agreed he was lucky this match to get the ton but you make your own luck. IMHO he should be batting 4, good signs were that Hussey got some runs and hopefully can turn his horrid run right around. Still think we are well and truly in this series, just need a tad more luck

If he's scoring runs consistently at 5, why move him, he's not running out of partners. As great as Ponting has been to Australian cricket, I don't think there would be any advantage to mess around with his batting number once his form starts declining enough to wonder his value to the side.

AGREE
CLARKE [ala Steve Waugh] must be left at 5 where he bats well
And the only time PONTING gives up his number 3 batting spot is when he announces his retirement

I don't think it has been to bad. Still averaged over 40 in the past 12 months.

I think that we're so used of him continually scoring well that anything under 70 is a failure nowadays.
